The Position
The Executive Assistant in Cell Therapy TRU is responsible for defining, enabling, and realizing strategies in Cell Therapy R&D, realizing the agile and responsive innovative model of the TRU Model (Transformational Research Unit) across all value chains and functions. Cell Therapy-TRU functions with a high level of independence and is well aligned with R&ED and Novo Nordisk corporate strategy.

You will lead the Strategy & Operation team within Cell Therapy R&D and act as sparring partner for the Corporate Vice President, Cell Therapy R&D. To balance workload, obtain different perspectives and to work efficiently and sustainably across time zones, you will partner closely with a peer colleague in Boston, US on strategic initiatives and projects.

You will develop and operationalize strategy, processes, and business model(s) for bringing existing and future cell therapy projects from research to market. This includes developing new internal operations, promoting flexibility, and exploring uncharted collaboration models to adapt to changing business needs. You will be working on complex issues that impact multiple R&ED and EVP areas and engage with stakeholders across those areas to develop sustainable solutions and drive meaningful change.

Your main responsibilities will be, to:

  • Set the strategic direction and framework for Cell Therapy R&D operations at the highest level and bring innovative approaches and viewpoints to tackle challenges effectively. This involves influencing resource allocation and project prioritization.
  • Coordinate and lead major initiatives, processes and events incl. board meetings, Cell Therapy leadership team meetings.
  • Deliver responsible and priority adjusted resource allocation across Cell Therapy R&D.
  • Lead and motivate employees in the Strategy & Operation department.
  • Work towards effective portfolio management, which includes applying internal and external best practices in project management.
  • Creating strong and impactful collaborations with relevant stakeholders, incl. Finance and P&O.
  • Being a recognized Business Partner and able to challenge and advise the Management team.
  • Help with communications and presentations by assembling material from internal and external stakeholders, coordinating activities and facilitating sessions at off-sites.

This position requires flexibility to work across time zones with colleagues sitting in Denmark, US East Coast and US West Coast. You can also expect to travel to the US once a year.

Qualifications
Ideally, you have the following qualifications or similar:

  • Master’s degree in business, finance, pharmaceutical science or similar.
  • Several years of experience with project management, external collaborations, and portfolio management from the pharmaceutical or biotech industry and/or consultancy companies.
  • Experience in project team leadership and people leadership, both directly and through others, encompassing tasks such as setting direction, change management, and the ability to build high-performance teams.
  • Experience with developing and implementing innovation models in biotech and driving innovation in pharma and biotech.
  • Experience from working in an international matrix organization and have a demonstrated ability to generate impactful business results at the SVP/EVP level.

You have strong people management, motivation and engagement skills and have a proactive and visible leadership style while being a team player. You are result-driven and possess high energy and drive. Moreover, you have an excellent ability to establish cross-organizational collaborations while being a strong communicator with fluency in English – both orally and in writing. You are an innovative and strategic problem-solver with a creative and global mindset.

In Cell Therapy R&D, our mission is to improve the lives of patients suffering from serious chronic diseases through innovative stem cell-based therapies. We want to be an industry leader in this rapidly developing area, which has the potential to address unmet medical needs in a disease-modifying to curative approach to serious chronic diseases. As a dedicated Transformational Research Unit (TRU) since late 2018, we have a high level of independence, agility, and flexibility. This means we can combine the speed and agility of a small biotech with the capabilities of a major pharma company. We cover the full pharmaceutical value chain, from research to commercial, including a GMP manufacturing site in Fremont, working in close collaboration with leading international scientists and colleagues across Novo Nordisk.
