Scientific coordinator within translational cancer research

The Department of Clinical Medicine at Faculty of Health at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as a scientific coordinator within translational cancer research as per January 1st 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is a 3 year full-time position.

At the Department of Clinical Medicine, you will be part of what is probably the largest health science research department in Denmark. Our clinical research covers all the medical specialties and takes place in close collaboration with the university hospital and the regional hospitals in the Central Denmark Region. The department has overall responsibility for the Master's degree programs in medicine and in molecular medicine. At the department we are approx. 670 academic employees, 500 PhD students and 160 technical/administrative employees who are cooperating across disciplines. As a scientific coordinator within translational cancer research, you will be working at Aarhus University Hospital. You can read more about the department here and about the faculty here. Your job responsibilities
As scientific coordinator, your primary tasks are to support the research infrastructure and facilitate data generation for local projects and in national collaborations and EU projects and conduct advanced data analysis to support research projects. You contribute to translational cancer research primarily within the area of bladder cancer research through coordination of a multitude of projects with students, post docs and technical personnel and in close collaboration with the research group leader. In your daily work, you have a close interaction with competent colleagues. In addition, you will be responsible for handling and improving laboratory protocols, within especially the area of next generation sequencing and for measuring ctDNA in liquid biopsies in particular.

Your main tasks will consist of:

  • Generating data using NGS and other high throughput technologies through close collaboration with laboratory technicians and scientists
  • Facilitating access to biobank and clinical data through Redcap and biobank software solutions.
  • Research support within translational cancer research
  • Teaching and supervision of students
  • Administrative responsibilities associated with project approvals and registrations.
  • Project work within the fields of liquid biopsy analysis and immunology research
  • Collaboration with clinicians and scientists nationally and internationally in work associated with clinical trials and EU funded projects.

You will report to the Professor Lars Dyrskjøt Andersen Your competences
You have a background within molecular biology or molecular medicine and experience with translational cancer research. You have a strong background and experience with laboratory protocols, especially within NGS methods and methods for detection of ctDNA and utDNA in liquid biopsies. You have experience with bioinformatic data analysis of NGS data using R or other software packages. You are organized and well-structured in your work and are used to manage several projects simultaneously.

As a person, you have good interpersonal skills, are inclusive and team-oriented and able to contribute to a good work environment.
