Job Description:
As the Microfluidic Nozzle Design and Fabrication Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design, simulation, and testing of micronozzles for ATLANT 3D’s advanced systems. You will be responsible for leading the development of micronozzles while ensuring ongoing enhancements to meet the evolving needs of microfabrication applications. Your expertise in microfluid dynamics, thermal management, and advanced prototyping and manufacturing will be pivotal in driving our innovations forward.
In this role, you will work closely with the R&D, Product Engineering, and Applications teams to integrate cutting-edge micronozzle technologies into the company’s product development process. You will ensure that development plans are executed efficiently and in alignment with budgets and timelines, while actively supporting cross-functional R&D projects. Additionally, you will collaborate with suppliers and external partners to source and implement new technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, simulation, and development of microfluidic material delivery microsystems and multi-nozzle technologies aimed at atomic/micron range resolution for microfabrication applications.
- Develop high-precision patterning techniques and analyze complex data to optimize and troubleshoot micronozzle designs.
- Develop and improve CAD designs of microfluidic systems, using CFD simulations to enhance fluidic and thermal performance.
- Collaborate with Product Engineering and Applications teams to transition R&D outcomes into product development.
- Ensure that all R&D plans are executed on time, within budget, and in line with defined objectives, including conducting risk analysis.
- Develop analytical methods for quality control and work with external vendors to source and install micronozzle development and characterization equipment.
- Lead external R&D engagements with academic and industrial partners and develop government funding projects.
- Prepare and submit innovative ideas for patents and trade secret applications.
- Support Applications and Engineering teams in addressing customer issues to meet company objectives.
- Provide mentorship to colleagues and junior specialists, supporting knowledge sharing and growth within the team.
Must-Have:
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Applied Physics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Micro and Nanotechnology, or Chemical Engineering.
- Industrial experience in fluid dynamics, particularly in corrosive and temperature-controlled environments.
- Proficiency in CAD tools, preferred SolidWorks, and experience in using simulation tools for fluid dynamics and thermal transfer.
- knowledge of gas dynamics
- Experience with gas systems and rough to medium vacuum systems
- Experience in the design, simulation, and implementation of microfluidic systems.
- Ability to manage multiple R&D projects with a results-driven approach.
- Strong communication skills and full proficiency in English (both written and verbal).
Good-to-Have:
- Experience with Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) technologies.
- Familiarity with plasma and vacuum-based systems.
- Project management experience and the ability to work within an engineering environment.
- Leadership and mentorship capabilities, along with a creative and open-minded approach to solving complex technical challenges.
Key Expected Results:
- Successful development and implementation of micronozzles design and manufacturing for high-precision material delivery systems, micron resolution within the first 6-12 months.
- Continuous optimization and troubleshooting of existing micronozzle designs, leading to enhanced performance and product integration.
- Propose and Develop new micronozzle solutions with validated business cases and bring them to execution
- Producing Intellectual Properties translated into patents, ensuring innovation and new technologies’ IP are secured.
- Achieve customer validation and product transfer by transitioning 3 new nozzle designs from R&D to manufacturing, with successful performance validation from customers within the first 12 months.
