We are seeking an individual with a proactive, adaptable mindset and a demonstrated ability to thrive in dynamic environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong commercial acumen and project management expertise, with a collaborative, team-oriented approach that promotes synergy across functions and stakeholders.
This role requires excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, enabling the individual to effectively engage with cross-functional teams, joint venture partners, and external stakeholders.
COP and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), the largest investment fund dedicated to renewable infrastructure in the world, are working together to originate, develop and build offshore wind project globally. In Japan, COP and CIP have been working together for several years and are progressing the development of several projects in view of submitting bids in the public auctions organized by the Japanese authorities.
Primary job duties include the following:
- Play a key leadership role in the project team
- Project management
- Develop bid strategies to maximize bid scoring
- Develop a deep understanding of the tender rules and inform/educate the team
- Prepare material for management meetings
- Support the team in preparing key project decisions or prepare the decision yourself when relevant
- Lead the bid writing process, lead the team in developing the bid story lines and ensure delivery of all bid documentation
- Participate to local stakeholders’ engagement when relevant
- Support the team when needed on procurement, technical or commercial topics
- Management of JV partners:
- Organize and manage collaboration between partners at team level
- Ensure good alignment between companies
- Prepare decisions
- Manage potential cross team issues
- Interface point between COP/CIP and Japanese partners
- Support shareholders level discussion if required
To succeed in this role, you:
The Bid Lead is a senior-level position that will report to the both the Market CEO (market level) and the Project CEO (project level). To succeed in this role, you will have the following:
- 10+ years of experience in one of the following fields: project management, public auctions preparation, leading procurement or technical roles, ideally within the renewable energy sector or large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Proven track record of managing complex, multi-stakeholder bidding processes, preferably with joint ventures (JV) and public-private partnerships (PPP).
- Expertise in tendering, procurement strategies, and contract negotiation, with a deep understanding of Japanese energy policies and regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to align cross-functional teams and collaborate with finance, legal, and technical teams to develop compelling bid strategies.
- Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on risk mitigation and ensuring compliance with local regulations.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and manage tight deadlines under pressure, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Knowledge of offshore wind or infrastructure development projects is highly desirable, with prior experience in Japanese energy markets being an advantage.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and supplier locations as required.
- Native Japanese and good command of English.
