Day-Ahead Energy Trader

Join us in this role where you’ll be part of our dynamic and expanding trading team as a Day-Ahead trader focused on electricity generated from wind turbines in the UK, Netherlands, and Germany. You will analyse markets, execute trades in real-time, manage risks, identify new market opportunities, and ensure regulatory compliance, all while working within a collaborative and innovative environment.

You’ll be part of Day Ahead Power where you, together with your colleagues, will collaborate closely with experts in energy trading and quants. Our team is responsible for the delivery of trading strategies for our renewable assets, ensuring competitiveness and profitability while supporting the global transition to renewable energy. You’ll play an important role in:
- real-time trading: executing trades in real-time, optimizing the buying and selling of wind-generated electricity
- market analysis and forecasting: monitoring and analysing electricity markets to predict price movements and inform trading strategies
- risk management: identifying and mitigating risks associated with trading, including market volatility and regulatory changes
- Python programming and automation: utilizing Python for process optimization, strategy development, and back-testing to enhance trading efficiency and accuracy
- regulatory compliance: ensuring all trading activities comply with local regulations in the UK, Netherlands, and Germany
- identifying market opportunities: discovering and capitalizing on new market opportunities in renewable energy trading.
To succeed in the role, you:
- possess strong market knowledge and analytical skills, particularly in the electricity markets of the UK, Netherlands, and Germany
- have proven trading experience in energy markets, ideally within the renewable energy sector
- have strong Python programming and SQL skills, enabling you to automate processes, develop and test trading strategies, and handle large datasets effectively
- thrive under pressure, making quick and informed decisions during market shifts
- are skilled in risk management, with a track record of effectively managing market and regulatory risks
- demonstrate adaptability and a proactive approach to learning and embracing new market trends.
