Senior Engineer

As a Senior Engineer, you will play a vital role in designing, building, and enhancing tools and systems that empower Flying Tiger Copenhagen’s international business users. Your efforts will directly support our strategic technology programs, helping the organization achieve its objectives through innovative and reliable technical solutions. You will collaborate closely with Program Managers to estimate, plan, and execute initiatives that align with our goals. In addition, you’ll help define and implement engineering standards, promote best practices and provide technical leadership within the team.

Your day-to-day work will involve developing and improving solutions that span a wide range of technologies, including Excel-based tools, cloud-based microservices, and new systems built with approved Microsoft Azure technologies. You’ll also have a significant role in guiding the team on modern engineering practices, reviewing designs to ensure adherence to standards, and supporting a culture of collaboration and technical excellence.

Based in our HQ on Strandgade, Copenhagen, you’ll report to our Head of Architecture, working in a dynamic and innovative environment alongside a team of engineers and architects. Together with our external partners, you’ll contribute to the delivery of scalable and efficient solutions while also helping establish efficient Scrum-based workflows and project setups in Azure DevOps.

This role is an excellent opportunity to influence the technological direction of Flying Tiger Copenhagen, foster best practices, and play a central role in delivering solutions that directly impact our business’s global success.

Key responsibilities:

• Design and build solutions across all technology initiatives.
• Work on existing Excel-based solutions built on MS Excel, VBA, and SQL.
• Help maintain and enhance existing microservices built on Azure components and Python.
• Build and maintain new solutions in accordance with engineering standards using Microsoft Azure and approved technologies.
• Document designs, test, and deploy solutions.
• Deliver handover and training for solutions developed to end-users and support teams.
• Participate in design reviews to ensure engineering standards are followed by different teams.
• Act as the senior engineering resource on the team and provide technical guidance to the team on development best practices and coding practices.
• Work with the Head of Architecture to help establish engineering practices in the team.
• Help establish a Scrum team structure with sprint planning and associated Azure DevOps project setup.

The ideal candidate for this Senior Engineer role is a seasoned technology professional with over 10 years of experience in this field. You are proficient in modern development practices like Scrum and tools such as Azure DevOps and Jira, with a proven ability to design scalable, efficient systems. You have strong stakeholder management skills and excel at mentoring teams, aligning technical efforts with business goals, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

• 10+ years of experience in technology roles.
• Minimum 3 years of experience on advanced MS Excel with VBA and SQL.
• Experience working as a Full Stack Engineer using modern web technologies.
• 3 years of experience on Microsoft Azure and work on building and deploying technical solutions on Azure.
• Experience with modern development practices such as Scrum and tools such as Jira, Azure Devops, Confluence etc.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills. Working with technology with a 365 degree view from backend technology to the end user.
• Good communication skill dans competent in delivering presentations and training to end users. Ability to collaborate effectively with all stakeholders.
