What You Will Do
As a Privacy Compliance Specialist at Klarna, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our data protection practices meet stringent global privacy regulations and support the ethical use of artificial intelligence (AI). Based in either Sweden or Germany, you will work across multiple jurisdictions and collaborate with stakeholders within and outside of Klarna. This role includes the potential to serve as the Data Protection Officer (DPO) for specific entities or jurisdictions. Key responsibilities include:
- Administering and monitoring Klarna’s Privacy Program, ensuring compliance with GDPR and other privacy regulations across jurisdictions.
- Developing and overseeing the implementation of an AI oversight and governance program, ensuring ethical and compliant AI usage.
- Conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for high-risk processing activities, particularly in AI-driven processes, and advising on mitigations.
- Managing relationships with Data Protection Authorities (DPAs), including drafting and approving regulatory responses.
- Providing expert guidance on privacy matters, supporting product development teams in implementing privacy by design, especially for AI-related projects.
- Developing and delivering privacy training programs, including AI ethics, to enhance compliance and awareness.
- Overseeing the maintenance of the Personal Data Registry, ensuring compliance with Article 30 of the GDPR.
- Participating in the New Product Approval Committee to ensure new products, particularly those involving AI, comply with privacy regulations.
- Conducting privacy compliance reviews and collaborating with the Compliance Testing team to strengthen privacy controls.
- Serving as a potential DPO for specific entities or jurisdictions, offering tailored oversight and expertise.
Who You Are
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in privacy compliance, risk management, or related roles, ideally within the financial sector.
- In-depth knowledge of GDPR and other privacy laws, with experience managing multi-jurisdictional compliance.
- Proven experience developing and implementing AI oversight and governance frameworks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in German or Swedish is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to engage effectively with stakeholders across teams and regions.
- Legal education or certification in privacy (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM) and experience in AI ethics are highly desirable.
- Experience or qualification as a DPO under GDPR is a strong advantage.
