You’ll will play an important role in: As our senior certification specialist in our Engine Process Platform Development Department, you will play a pivotal role in achieving our ambitious decarbonization targets. You will work at the heart of MAN Energy Solutions R&D organization ensuring that our innovating ideas for decarbonizing the maritime industry is in line with current and future IMO legislations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Work with leading engine technologies, including our low-carbon dual fuel engines enabling the carbon neutral transition for the maritime industry.
  • Develop and implement IMO NOx certification concepts for our two-stroke engine portfolio including retrofit projects as well as newbuilding projects.
  • Stay updated on current and future IMO legislations and ensure strategic alignment of our products.
  • Lead certification projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to internal and external stakeholders.

A typical week will include supporting ongoing projects both in term of planning, but also execution of certification related activities such as developing certification concepts, making guidelines and communicate with external stakeholders including licensees, classification societies, flag states etc.

We have a cross departmental competence group for certification tasks where you will participate in a senior capacity. This group is responsible for development of certification procedures as well as execution of certification related task in the field.

Travelling is to be expected in this role including participation in relevant measurement campaigns on test bed at our licensees, sea trials and meetings with various stakeholders around the world. Business trips vary from a few days up to 3 weeks and will amount to approximately 60 travel days per year.

You will closely collaborate with other departments and engineering fields, enjoying the freedom to influence your own specialist area.

We imagine that you: Are a dedicated and curious team player with relevant skills such as

  • Relevant engineering background or have equivalent education specialized within environmental engineering / emission technology, combustion engines or environmental law.
  • 5-8 years of professional experience in relevant and reputed organization
  • Have strong stakeholder and communication skills in English, verbally as well as in writing
  • Demonstrate strong technical expertise and proficient technical writing abilities.
  • Have a positive mindset, enjoying to share experience and sustain organizational learning.

Welcome to Engine Platform Process Development Department We are a group consisting of approximately 13 colleagues with various fields of specialization ranging from experts in measurement technologies, engine performance, emissions and simulations all working in close collaboration both internally and with other departments in the organization in cross departmental competence groups.
