Syddansk Universitet (SDU)

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science (IMADA), SDU, Odense, Denmark, invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Algorithms, with a focus on applications in Algorithmic Cheminformatics. The intended starting date is 1 April, 2025, with room for flexibility.

The initial three years of this position are funded by the MATOMIC project (“Mathematical Modelling for Microbial Community Induced Metabolic Diseases” https://www.sdu.dk/en/forskning/matomic). One focus of the project is the use of methods based on representing molecules and reactions via graph transformation techniques. During this time, the applicant is expected to work together with other IMADA researchers in the development of novel, practically efficient algorithms and modelling techniques, with corresponding implementations. See https://cheminf.imada.sdu.dk for previous and current work in the research group.

Past the first three years the position is funded by the department. As a tenure-track position it is a focused assistant professorship with a guaranteed assessment for a position as tenured associate professor. At the latest before the end of the sixth year of employment and contingent on a positive academic assessment, the assistant professor will transition into a permanent (tenured) position as associate professor. A tenure-track assistant professor can request assessment for tenure earlier.
