Postdoc in Mid-Infrared Ultrafast Lasers and Frequency Combs - DTU Electro

A 1.5-year Postdoc position is available at DTU Electro on experimental ultrafast optics and frequency combs. Highly motivated candidates with a strong background in lasers, frequency combs, nonlinear optics are encouraged to apply.
We are working on novel ultrafast lasers and frequency combs operating in the mid-infrared spectral range for precision molecular sensing applications. Traditionally, such long wavelength frequency comb sources come with high complexity of operation. Our focus is to establish efficient dual-comb lasers to simplify the optical setup, making it attractive for further integration and field-deployable measurement tools. This Postdoc position will empower you to lead some of the key project objectives including studying novel laser and saturable absorber devices, and dual-comb application demonstration.

The successful candidate is expected to publish his/her research results in leading international journals and conferences.

Further opportunities during postdoc include possibility to work with our international collaborators in Germany, Switzerland, Turkey, UK.

Responsibilities and qualifications
Your overall focus will be to strengthen the mid-infrared frequency combs research within the group and department. You will contribute to

  • Femtosecond light source development and characterization
  • Studying novel saturable absorber devices
  • Frequency comb spectroscopy and data processing

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). Additional requirements are given below

  • PhD in ultrafast optics, frequency combs or a related field.
  • Competence within one or more of the following subjects: Nonlinear frequency conversion, saturable absorbers, laser modelocking, spectroscopy experiments, mid-infrared optical setup, data processing, statistics and metrology.
  • Proven ability to communicate research findings through oral presentations and journal publications.
  • Fluency in English language (written and spoken).
  • You should be creative, well-organized, and highly motivated to work in the described research field.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The period of employment is 1.5 years. Starting date is 1 March 2025 (or according to mutual agreement). The position is a full-time position.
