As an Application Engineering Specialist for Sustainability in EMEA (m/f/*) focused on Sustainability for the Electrical Markets Division you will have the opportunity to put your curiosity to good use and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people in the world. In this position, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the sustainability strategy while leading efforts to drive growth through sustainability, customer collaboration, and new product commercialization. This position will act as a liaison between EMD and corporate sustainability initiatives, manage and prioritize sustainability projects, and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sustainability practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
The impact you will make in this role:
- Assisting in shaping the EMD sustainability strategy
- Acting as the EMD liaison to Corporate and SIBG sustainability initiatives in EMEA
- Prioritizing and managing sustainability initiatives in collaboration with EMD sustainability leadership (potentially including making claims, conducting Life Cycle Assessments, developing Product Category Rules, publishing Environmental Product Declarations, sustainable packaging, etc.)
- Collaborating with legal counsel, regulatory, and product stewards to define appropriate responses to customer data requests and supporting the "Shades of Green" program
- Communicating 3M & EMD sustainability strategies and priorities to customers in collaboration with key account leaders
- Tracking sustainability standards and regulations impacting EMD products
- Helping prioritize and execute the development of Environmental Impact Data for EMD
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Basic experience in sustainability roles, preferably within the electrical markets or a related industry.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Strong understanding of sustainability practices, standards, and regulations.
- Proven project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in conducting LCAs and developing EPDs is a plus.
Travel: May include up to 25% international traveling within EMEA
