Are you a People Manager motivated by leadership responsibilities with experience in the shipping and logistics sectors?
If so, you might be the Shipping Manager we are looking for to lead our shipping department in Thailand. We have an ambitious agenda, and your primary focus will be managing a team of four dedicated employees and ensuring the high quality of our deliveries - naturally, on time.
The position is based at VIKING's production facilities in the Laem Chabang Industrial Estate, and the successful candidate will report directly to the Senior Logistics Manager within the Global Logistics Management team.
As part of our Global Logistics Department, the Thailand-based team is responsible for coordinating shipments worldwide and is currently staffed by four Shipping Officers.

About the position
As a Shipping Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that we remain Best in Class and that our deliveries always function smoothly. The position will involve a strong focus on leadership and development of the department, but we also expect a hands-on approach to daily operations.
We expect you to have experience in leading a Shipping Department and sending goods worldwide using Air, Sea, and Courier services. Furthermore, you must have in-depth knowledge of shipping Dangerous Goods.
You will also be responsible for obtaining and maintaining all required import and export licenses. Moreover, you will ensure that all our shipments are handled according to Thai and international rules and regulations. Therefore, you must be familiar with Thai Customs and IEAT Regulations.
In close cooperation with the team, your primary responsibilities will be:
- Lead the daily operations of the shipping department, overseeing all aspects of domestic and international shipments
- Develop and mentor the shipping team, ensuring ongoing growth and optimization of operational procedures
- Manage and maintain all necessary import and export licenses and ensure compliance with relevant regulations
- Ensure all shipments are handled in strict accordance with both Thai and international rules, including Customs and IEAT regulations
- Maintain a high level of service quality and efficiency in shipping operations, utilizing air, sea, and courier services for global distribution
We will, of course, ensure that you receive thorough training to match the needs of the position.
Approximately 10-20 global travel days per year must be expected.

Your entry into the position
The ideal candidate has experience in a similar position and is a “self-starter” with the ability to plan and manage their own pipeline. We expect you to have a structured approach and work with the premise of creating the most business value. Initiative and independent decision-making are also a natural part of your work style.
Additionally, we prefer if you have:
- Strong leadership skills and experience in managing a shipping department, with a strong focus on global logistics
- Proven expertise in shipping dangerous goods and knowledge of international shipping regulations
- In-depth understanding of Thai Customs and IEAT regulations
- Practical experience in Logistics and Shipping across all areas
- Experience with SAP for Shipping and Logistics management is a distinct advantage
- A high standard of written and spoken English and Thai is essential to succeed in this role
