POSITION OBJECTIVES
DCA/NCA is looking for an enthusiastic Livelihoods/Agronomic officer to join its Cash and Livelihood programme in south- and eastern Ukraine. She/he will contribute to the efficient and effective implementation of livelihood projects as part of the DCA/NCA Cash and Livelihood team based in Mykolaiv. His/her main responsibilities will be to support in the implementation of livelihoods projects; cooperation with and the capacity development of local partners; direct liaison with local stakeholders and the humanitarian coordination system; and internal stakeholder management such as coordination with other departments and the DCA/NCA senior management in Kyiv.
Regardless of the content of this job description, the employee is expected to participate in any task necessary for the organization delegated by the manager at all times.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contributes to the implementation of all cash and livelihoods projects
- Support the coordination with partners and other local stakeholders throughout the projects
- Participates in the selection of proper interventions for the affected communities.
- Participates in the on-site livelihood activities (community visits, registration, in-kind distribution) whenever requested and relevant
- Monitors and evaluates impact of projects on administrative level
- Supports the monitoring of the agricultural projects
- Has experience on conducting surveys and contribution to their design for livelihood programming
- Provides technical support during the project cycle (agricultural assessments, prepare seasonal calendar).
- Detects and summarizes any problem or situation related to agriculture.
- Translates documents for internal use and interprets upon request (EN UA).
- Provides administrative support, among others to capacity-building activities.
- Contributes to internal written reporting at basic level
- Supports the Manager on keeping and tracking of proper filing/documentation system
- Works closely with other departments in planning and implementation whenever relevant
- Develops and maintains good working relationship with partners
- Reports events and changes within the region that could have an impact on DCA/NCA’s activities, in particular in relation to the Cash and Livelihood Programme, which will allow to further formulate and/or adjust objectives and priorities.
REQUIREMENTS (The position is open to Ukrainian nationals only and requires solid background on agro/livestock projects)
- University degree in the field of economics, agronomy or equivalent experience in the humanitarian field
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in food security & livelihoods and cash-based interventions
- Experience in INGOs or LNGOs is a strong asset
- Professional working level in written and spoken English and Ukrainian language is required
- Excellent interpersonal communication, ability to communicate effectively on culturally sensitive issues to diverse audiences.
- Ability to be proactive and work independently.
- Ability to operate in a high stress and unpredictable environment.
- Good knowledge of geographically assigned environment
- Reporting capacity.
- Willingness to travel
