For our customer, the European Space Agency (ESA), we are seeking an experienced IT Security Engineer to work at ESA’s ESTEC site in Noordwijk, The Netherlands.

Job description
You will be a key member of Terma’s IT teams integrated into the customer responsible for supporting ESTEC’s technical facilities and developing software applications in the Technical and Quality Management Directorate (D/TEC).

Responsibilities
As IT Security Engineer and reporting to respective Service Managers you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the security management processes and documentation for two IT Services, one covering IT infrastructure and the other Software applications. You will act as a security contact point for all security matters on both services to the customer and be the focal point for IT Security matters within respective teams.

The tasks to be performed are:

• Establish an effective Information Security Management System (ISMS) according to ISO 27001.
• Verify compliance to ESA policies prior to service solutions being presented to ESA.
• Assure that updates of ESA security policies are introduced and implemented in the service.
• Performing or coordinating the necessary security checks to ensure compliance of the IT service with overall ESA security requirements.
• Monitoring IT Security risks and attempts to violate security (from inside or outside ESTEC).
• Generation of service documentation according to SecOps principles.
• Handling any IT Security incidents according to customer incident management procedures, leasing with ESA and other service provider counterparts as necessary.
• Interface with the customer Information Security Officer on security matters concerning the service.

This is a full-time position located at ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands. The foreseen start of work is April 2025 latest.

How to succeed in this position?
The successful candidate shall have:

• Degree (at least Bachelor) in IT, CyberSecurity, or related Engineering subject.
• At least 8 years’ working experience.
• At least 3 years’ experience in large scale corporate IT environments, interfacing with Security Officers.
• Heterogeneous experience – Windows but also Linux environments.
• Good understanding of modern IT security tools and solutions.
• Proven experience with information security processes and controls – risk assessments, penetration testing, audits, etc.
• Hands-on experience with implementing security measures
• Experience with writing SecOps, and additionally security documents
• Good knowledge relevant IT Security standards e.g. ISO 27001
• Knowledge of service management frameworks (certification in ITIL).
• Experience with producing IT service-related documentation (according to ITIL).

Desirable:

• Experience with Static Application Security Testing (SAST) would be useful.
• Certification in ITIL
• Ideally prior experience in multinational cultural environments.
• Ideally prior experience with technical/R&D facilities.

Soft skills:

• A “Service mindset” and understanding of what a service framework means.
• Excellent English, spoken and written
