We are looking for
Postdoctoral Researcher in Computer Science: Interactive Machine Learning at the Faculty of Technology and Society.
Work duties
The position concerns research on human-robot collaborative learning. The robot is an ultralight electric utility vehicle with a mechatronic system and sensors enabling autonomous functionalities. It aims to be an interactive work companion, transporting people and carrying loads in various indoor and outdoor environments. The method to be developed combines end-to-end imitation learning with interactive machine learning for deep learning based robot control. Data collection and experiments will be conducted on the actual robot in real environments.
The research will be conducted in collaboration with industry partners.
In addition, teaching corresponding to 20% is planned for the position, mainly in the computer science master's programs Internet of Things and Applied Data Science.
Qualifications
A postdoc is primarily employed to conduct research. They have completed a doctoral degree or a foreign degree considered on par with a doctoral degree. This is primarily relevant to people who have completed their doctoral degree no more than three years before the application period for the position of postdoc has expired. Under special circumstances, the doctoral degree may have been completed at an earlier date. Special circumstances constitute time off because of illness, parental leave, clinical practice, union duties, clinical duty or assignments relevant to the subject area, such as work as professional in industry.
In addition to formal competence, University employees must possess the personal capacities necessary to perform the duties of the position well and to represent the University in the best possible way.
Specific requirements for this position:
- PhD degree in Computer Science, or related area.
- Experience form machine learning research.
The following would be of benefit for the position:
Experience, knowledge and skills regarding
- Interactive machine learning
- Robotics and autonomous systems, in particular mobile robots and intelligent vehicles
- Applied research using deep learning
- Applied research using multimodal large language models
- Computer vision
- Hands-on machine learning and robot development using PyTorch, ROS and Docker.
- Industrial research and/or development.
- Teaching in areas of relevance for the position
Assessment criteria
Accordning to the Appointment Rules at Malmö University, the assessment crieteria for a position as Postdoctor are:
- The quality and focus of the doctoral thesis
- Research activities within fields relevant to the appointment in question
- Documented ability to independently conduct research of a sufficient standard
- Reflective presentation of their own pedagogical outlook and practices
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate with actors in other parts of society with a connection to education and research

Internet of Things and People Research Center
Internet of Things and People (IoTaP) is a research centre that studies how people can get the most out of the Internet of Things. The work involves about 40 reseachers, mainly computer scientists and interaction designers, together with professionals from industry and public organisations, as well as users. Through applied research, IoTaP addresses a range of current challenges in society within areas such as energy, transportation, health, learning and home automation.
