Apply now to help us make a difference for our patients.

The positions
We are looking for two scientists to work on developing and upscaling novel cultivation processes for stem cells. You will be part of the Cell Therapy CMC process development organization. Here, you will be doing process development in the lab, but also in collaboration with our colleagues in our GMP facilities in California and New Hampshire. The successful candidates will be responsible for planning and executing the experiments. Further, some of the tasks can also include developing at-line and online assays to monitor and predict the quality of the cells. You will play an important role in contributing to the development of cultivation and manufacturing strategies for several of our pipeline projects. The positions will combine desk-based preparation and hands-on work in the lab (50/50%). The work is done in the close collaboration with internal and external partners in an international setting.

These positions require flexibility to work across time zones with colleagues sitting in Denmark, US East Coast and US West Coast. Some travel will be expected, but not more than a few weeks per year.

Qualifications
To thrive and succeed in this position, we would expect you to have:

  • Several years of solid hands-on experience in bioprocessing and conventional bioreactor systems for mammalian cell culture.
  • Strong background in mammalian cell biology and preferably within stem cell biology. In addition, knowledge of human stem cells in 3D culture would be valuable.
  • It would be an advantage to have experience in CMC and upscaling, including cell harvesting, from the pharmaceutical or life sciences industries. Proven ability of data analyses and interpretation.
  • It would be beneficial if you have knowledge of applied statistics (e.g., DoEs).
  • Working knowledge of GMP requirements.
  • Ability to mentor and guide junior scientists and laboratory technicians.

About the department
The department Cell Therapy Process Technology is part of Novo Nordisk’s Transformational Research Unit, Cell Therapy R&D. Here we develop novel cell replacement therapies for the treatment of serious chronic diseases. As part of CMC, our department receives projects from the research area and focuses on the development of manufacturing and control of processes across the entire pluripotent stem cell workflow, starting with cell line derivation and ending with an efficacious and well-characterised product. Diabetes mellitus type 1, Parkinson’s disease and chronic heart failure are only some of the indications we are currently working on. You will join an international and dedicated CMC function specialising in Cell Therapies with 90+ employees, including project leaders, scientists, laboratory technicians and student workers.
