HPC cluster administrator at the IT University of Copenhagen

The IT University of Copenhagen is looking for a high-performance computing (HPC) cluster administrator, who will join the Computer Science Department to manage the ITU HPC cluster and assist faculty and students in utilizing local, national and regional level external HPC resources. The preferred start date is February 2025 or soon thereafter.

Job description

  • You are responsible for the operations and further development of the existing ITU HPC cluster, including hardware planning and acquisition, system architecture and documentation.
  • You monitor the use of the ITU HPC cluster and implement the governance policies adopted by ITU HPC committee.
  • You support and train ITU's researchers in the use of HPC systems at ITU and externally.
  • You participate in university training and outreach in HPC and data science.

Your profile
The preferred candidate is expected to have experience with some or all of these topics:

  • Unix/Linux system administration, experience with configuration management puppet is a plus
  • User support to researchers
  • Clusters and general HPC management, specific experience with slurm and EasyBuild
  • Understanding of HPC applications is a plus
  • Understanding of machine learning and deep Learning basics a plus

About the Computer Science Department
The ITU Computer Science Department conducts research in all aspects of computer science and data science, including algorithms, databases, government IT, machine learning, natural language processing, network science, optimization, programming languages, quantum computing, robotics, security, semantics, software engineering, software verification, type theory, and more, as well as a range of applications. The department has 62 permanent faculty, 65 PhDs and postdocs, as well as other staff. It is responsible for the IT University's most technical education programs BSc Software Development, BSc Data Science, MSc Computer Science, MSc Data Science, and MSc Software Design.

Salary and terms of employment
The working hours are 37 hours per week. We have flexible working hours, which provides good opportunities for balancing work and leisure optimally.

Employment is in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). There will be an opportunity to negotiate individual allowances depending on your qualifications.
