Principal Pharmacokineticist

Ferring Pharmaceuticals A/S

Principal Pharmacometrician – Clinical Pharmacology
Would you like to apply your experience with model-informed drug development and knowledge of clinical pharmacology in a stimulating environment?

In this role, you will support the clinical development of drug candidates in a range of therapeutic areas and various stages of their lifecycles.

“We are working with increasingly advanced pharmacometric models, and you’ll contribute to an array of projects and assess feasibility, for example, in the transition from non-clinical to clinical development. And because our communication lines are relatively short, you’ll have ample opportunity to influence and leave your mark on exciting projects,” explains Daniël Jonker, Director.

Ferring + you You will join our Clinical Pharmacology group within Early Sciences. We are responsible for ensuring that the pharmacological properties of our drug candidates are adequately characterized and for implementing model-informed drug development initiatives in all global development projects at Ferring. We also support interactions with regulatory authorities regarding pharmacology and pharmacometrics.

Our portfolio covers a variety of molecular modalities, and as a team, we work primarily in three areas: pharmacometrics, clinical pharmacology, and regulatory interactions/submissions. Because of our specialist knowledge, we are natural go-to people and subject matter experts for colleagues across the organization.

Your day at Ferring As a Principal Pharmacometrician, you will divide your time between contributing to cross-functional international project teams, performing hands-on PK/PD modeling, and coordinating with external partners.

While you will often work independently, you are encouraged to use the Clinical Pharmacology group as a sounding board, sharing your insights openly with your colleagues and supporting them as needed.

In addition, you will collaborate closely with other functions, including Research & Discovery, Precision Medicine, Clinical Therapy Areas, Global Biometrics, Regulatory Affairs, and Clinical Operations.

More specifically, your primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Perform PK and PK/PD modeling and pharmacological assessments to support the transition from non-clinical to clinical development, drive the clinical pharmacology strategy of development programs, and inform the design of clinical trials in all development phases

  • Provide effective communication in cross-functional teams, internal governance boards, and at external conferences

  • Contribute to writing clinical development plans, modeling analysis plans, pharmacometrics reports and publications, and reviewing clinical trial protocols and clinical trial reports

  • Contribute to writing regulatory submission documents and responding to regulatory questions

  • Evaluate due diligence opportunities

You can look forward to joining your team at our spectacular state-of-the-art office, Soundport, which houses our International Pharma-Science Centre (IPC). As we collaborate internationally, you will have great flexibility in managing your workday – including working from home up to 2 days a week.

Behind our innovation – there’s youFirst of all, you are excited by the opportunity to apply your pharmacometrics expertise and knowledge of clinical pharmacology to help progress a diverse range of clinical development projects. Additionally, you view our broad scope as an interesting challenge, and you are ready to apply your experience and strong collaboration skills to act as a Clinical Pharmacology specialist in cross-functional teams.

To do so, we are looking for you to have:

  • A PhD and extensive experience with model-informed drug development in a pharma company or consultancy

  • A track record of contributions to clinical development programs with pharmacometrics modeling founded on a solid understanding of pharmacological concepts

  • Hands-on experience with population modeling tools (preferably NONMEM and R)

  • Excellent communication skills in English, enabling you to effectively convey complex scientific information and build trust with any audience

  • Strong writing skills, enabling you to accurately convey scientific information in a regulatory context
