Senior Associate, Commercial Analyst

The position
As the Senior Commercial Analyst, you will support financial modeling, business case development, and strategic recommendations for renewable energy projects in the Voyager portfolio. You will focus on building and maintaining financial models, conducting analysis and sensitivities to assess the economic feasibility and performance of projects.
You will work closely with the Senior Commercial Manager and cross-functional teams. Additionally, you will help develop commercial strategies by providing insights on energy market trends, policy changes, and government incentives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Modelling & Scenario Analysis: Create and maintain robust financial models, including scenario and sensitivity analysis. Conduct financial analysis, including preparation of discounted cash flow modeling, and cost estimation to assess economic viability of projects.
- Market Research & Data Collection: Stay informed on energy market trends, policy changes, and government incentives affecting the renewable energy sector. Conduct market research to gather relevant data, providing insights to inform strategic decision-making and the development of the broader portfolio strategy.
- Commercial Strategy: Assist in the development of commercial strategies for projects in the Voyager portfolio. Analyze various technologies, geographic considerations, and market conditions to support optimisation of the portfolio.
- Business Case Development: Support the preparation of business cases. Help develop detailed financial analyses, market insights, and risk assessments that inform business cases.
- Portfolio Performance Monitoring: Monitor project performance by reviewing financial data, analyzing performance against targets, and highlighting areas for improvement.
- Reporting & Presentations: Prepare regular reports and presentations, insights and recommendations. Communicate complex analysis and project status to internal stakeholders, including supporting the development of Steering Committee and Board reports.
- Ad-hoc Analysis & Strategic Recommendations: Perform ad-hoc analysis and research to support strategic initiatives or key decision-making processes.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the finance, development, legal, and investment teams to gather necessary data, support project development, and ensure alignment of financial modeling and commercial strategies across the organization.
You:
We expect that you have a bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, engineering, or a related field. A professional qualification (e.g., MBA, CFA) is advantageous.
Key qualifications include:
- Experience in a Commercial Analyst role (expected), with a focus on renewable energy, infrastructure, or project finance (desirable).
- Advanced Excel, including financial modeling and sensitivity analysis (expected). Familiarity with Power BI (desirable).Knowledge of the renewable energy industry, including current market trends, government policies, financial mechanisms, and incentives (desirable).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (expected). Able to present complex financial data and analysis in an accessible and concise manner to stakeholders at all levels.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial analysis, report generation, and project documentation (expected).
- Strong organisational and project management skills (expected)\
