The position
As an Indirect Tax Director at Novo Nordisk, you will lead a team of eight highly qualified indirect tax specialists and act as internal advisor for the business on indirect tax matters, with a special focus on the expansion of the production facilities in Denmark and globally
- Be the global process owner and subject matter expert on VAT/GST, customs duties, energy and climate tax as well as excise duties
- Ensure implementation of new legislation e.g. CO2e-emission tax - CBAM, ViDA, etc.
- Be responsible for indirect tax reporting to the Danish Tax Authorities for Novo Nordisk A/S and Novo Nordisk Health Care AG
- Be responsible for driving the global indirect tax savings and outsourcing agenda, overseeing the indirect tax control framework, and leading the audits initiated by the Danish tax authorities
- Drive and facilitate the implementation of an AI tax determination tool and support the transition into SAP S/4 HANA
Provide arguments and support for public affairs on indirect tax matters both in Denmark and EU, and represent Novo Nordisk in meetings at the political level nationally and at EU-level
This position will be based at HQ in Bagsværd, Denmark, with frequent interaction with the local Danish organisation, including visiting local sites, as well as interacting with the global Novo Nordisk organisation.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you hold a Master’s degree in law, economics, or similar, and have minimum 10 years of experience within the field of indirect tax, including at least 3 years of as a people leader, demonstrating effective leadership skills within the team, as a global process owner, and in leading upward within the organisation.
Other success criteria are:
- Preferably, in-depth knowledge of legislation on VAT, duties, energy and climate taxes
- Strong analytical skills and understanding of how technology can be used in the indirect tax space
- Strong network within Big 4, tax authorities, and business associations
- Understanding of political and legislative processes in Denmark and the EU
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills with colleagues from all levels in the organisation and with diverse backgrounds and towards Danish authorities and other important external stakeholders. Proficiency in Danish and English at a high level is required
As a person, you have the ability to translate complex legislation into tangible actions for affiliates or colleagues in production sites, as well as a prioritizing what is essential, versus what is secondary, to balance the needs from line of business with what is important from a tax point of view, furthermore, you are able to understand and respect local responsibilities, while driving the corporate agenda.
About the department
In Novo Nordisk’s Corporate Tax department, we are 28 dedicated employees working in teams within Transfer Pricing, Corporate Income Tax Services, Tax Technology, Business Development, and Indirect Tax. You will be leading the Indirect Tax Team as Director of the team.
Further to this, you will join the Corporate Tax Management Team, the Global Tax Management team, and join the Global Tax Organisation encompassing around 75 employees worldwide.
