The Department
Translational Type 2 Diabetes Research studies all aspects of type 2 diabetes. For this project which will be embedded in the Steno Diabetes Neuro Unit, Translational Type 2 Diabetes Research collaborates with national and international partners to examine brain insulin resistance in diabetes.
About the project
The aim is to dissolve why people with diabetes mellitus are at risk of developing cognitive difficulties and have an increased risk of dementia. The project is a multicenter study involving the Department of Clinical Physiology and Nuclear Medicine, Rigshospitalet, Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen and the University of Ulm, Germany and Copenhagen University of Applied Sciences. The project itself is divided into 5 Work Packages which, among other things, include the recruitment of healthy controls and persons with type 1 or 2 diabetes mellitus. The examinations will include clinical data, cognitive tests, omics analyses, physiological tests, and MRI and PET scans. The tasks for this position comprise study design, project management, data analysis and dissemination of findings.
Qualifications
The candidate must hold a degree within a relevant natural science area. The candidate must have completed her/his PhD.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in T2D research focusing on diabetes-related aspects of the nervous system. Experience with project management, data management, analyses e.g., from RCTs and other studies will be a strength. This includes experience with REDcap, recruitment of participants, communication with external partners in international projects, and participation in projects steering committee. Creativity, independent thinking, and the ability to work in a team are all important qualities. The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily management of the research project.

Terms
The researcher candidate will be offered a full-time position for a period of six years. The position is available from 1 January 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The project starts on 1 January 2025 and runs for 6 years, at which point the employment will end. Employment will be in accordance with the relevant collective agreement within the Capital Region of Denmark.
