About the role
DNV Energy Systems is looking for a Solutions Engineer based in Northern Europe to support the Smart Cable Guard (SCG) Unit within DNV.

Smart Cable Guard (SCG
) is an online multi-functional monitoring system for MV power cable networks. The system has two unique functions: detect and locate weak spots and detect and locate faults in underground power cables. The automated system immediately gives a warning when problems arise.

You will get the opportunity to be part of the Global SCG team, and together with other colleagues you will help sell and implement SCG systems and services, bridging the gap between SCG’s technical offering and the customer’s needs in Europe.

The overall purpose of the job is to support the Smart Cable Guard Unit in its role to help DNV safeguard life, property and the environment and achieve our company vision: To be a trusted voice to tackle global transformations.
As a Solutions Engineer, you will drive business growth by understanding customer pain points and requirements, SCG’s application, and articulating the value of SCG’s system. Adept at explaining complex technical concepts in a simple manner, you’ll support sales by developing and presenting product solutions and work alongside sales teams throughout the sales journey. You will be expected to visit prospects and existing customers on a regular basis. As a result of this you will be expected to travel between 25% and 50% of your time.

As a Solutions Engineer for DNV Smart Cable Guard, you will have these main roles and responsibilities:

  • Support SCG sales managers with prospecting and qualifying opportunities in Europe, matching customer requirements to proposed solutions, building financial and technical business cases, closing deals and project kick-off transitions
  • Provide technical expertise during the sales cycle, emphasizing SCG’s benefits and competitive advantages
  • Lead SCG demonstrations highlighting relevant features and functions and addressing questions about the system and its application(s)
  • Help develop and execute Proof of Concepts to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of SCG’s system
  • Study customer needs, pain points and business challenges and create proposals with the sales teams
  • Interact with the engineering or technical teams to address technical concerns or requirements
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather technical requirements and ensure the successful implementation of SCG’s system
  • Give active feedback and insights from the market to the product development and marketing team as well as consult on product development, providing voice of the customer input
  • Secure orders, guarantee product standards and assure product delivery, working collaboratively with sales, product and operations teams
  • Establish and maintain customer rapport
  • Give technical input on sales plans, contracts and standards reviews, and pricing strategies sales
  • Collaborate and create SCG documentation, such as catalogues, manuals, specification sheets, demonstration tutorials, and training
  • Work closely with marketing on sales enablement and lead generation, playing a crucial role demonstrating the value proposition in the market, including at 2-3 events per year

About you
What is Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or equivalent professional experience
  • Understanding of the energy industry and a strong technical background to be able to communicate SCG’s system to both technical and non-technical resources in the industry
  • Proven ability in presenting products and services to energy clients and fielding customer queries
  • Excellent people skills to collaborate with internal teams, manage customer expectations, and ensure customer satisfaction at all stages of the process
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, with ability to identify customer needs and propose innovative solutions
  • Self-motivated and target driven with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and driving revenue growth
  • Informed on trends in the industry, competition, and market direction
  • Willingness to travel within the region and limited internationally

What is Preferred

  • 2+ years of Solutions Engineer experience or similar role
  • Ability to demonstrate the SCG system, with confidence in the product, at customer meetings and events
  • Experience working in the DSO/Utility space
  • Skilled at using customer relationship management (CRM) software such as Sales Force for opportunity tracking and reporting of a pipeline
  • Start-up mindset with capacity to collaborate with product development, operations, and marketing to advance SCG growth
  • Experience working with cross functional teams, including product development, marketing, and operations
  • Demonstrate technical expertise, strong communication and presentation skills
