Director, Live Operations (Interactive Play Platform)
LEGO Koncernen
Job Description
Have you operated a digital service and developed phenomenal skills for maintaining and evolving products which continue to entertain and delight for years after launch? Ignite your curiosity as you apply this to the incredible world of toy making!
Core Responsibilities
Bring your passion for making high quality play for children and join our pioneering team in this key role at the innovative edge of one of our new play platforms, as you:
- Provide strategic direction and thought leadership for future connected toys. You will help answering the challenge of how we can create more relevant play through insights captured from real user behaviors, online, in shops and in the playroom? At the same time ensuring this is done in an ethical and responsible way which upholds our brand values.
- Collaborate across the team to optimize the play and shopping experiences and install systems to measure relevance by tracking data such as repeat play, session frequency, etc.
- Iteratively adapt our infrastructure to shorten the loop between observation, hypothesis and action so that our post launch reaction time to emerging behaviors is fast and flexible, keeping our experiences as relevant as possible.
- Provide functional leadership as you build and empower a team to pioneer managing products at the frontier of connected play. Then build the systems and processes needed to scale, so that many products can be updated live in market.
- Evangelize the benefits of Live Operations to generate support and momentum for new ways of working and culture shifts across the whole organization. Build self-sustaining processes which evolve as quickly as the experiences themselves.
- Forecast changing user audience behaviors through a data inspired culture which synthesizes multiple sources to wisely estimate the causes and trajectories - using your forecasts to take qualified yet bold risks.
Play your part in our team succeeding
Join our team of pioneers! We are determined to evolve the experience of playing with LEGO Bricks to keep it exciting, inspiring and relevant as the expectations of the world’s children adapt to modern life.
As a strong indirect leader, first and foremost, you will ensure we focus on creating great play and gift giving value. You will influence the broader company to embrace a connected future, reducing barriers and creating a purposeful vision to rally behind. You, and the products & services you lead, will influence positive and responsible change both for kids and for The LEGO Group, using connected data to define an exciting new way to play and drive rapid growth in the process.
Do you have what it takes?
We are looking for a strong expert leader with a consistent record of successfully operating digital services with a large user base and fan communities. We imagine that the right candidate will be:
- Service Minded – leadership experience developing and/or leading a live digital service which has evolved the marketing communication and product experiences in parallel.
- Iteration Driven – skills for driving iterative change based on real world user behaviors and use insights to keep user communities engaged for the long-term.
- Team Focused – can empower a cross-functional team and unite them behind a common vision.
- User Centered – puts value creation for the end user at the Centre of decision making. Demonstrates methods for challenging ‘internal team think’.
- A Strategic Problem solver – Able to link day-to-day tasks and longer goals to agreed company strategic objectives, and to re-evaluate both strategy and tactics as emerging behaviors deviated from the expected.
- A Gifted Storyteller – A compelling teller of tales, able to explain sophisticated concepts in both metaphorical and direct, always memorable, ways. Can adapt to and connect with different audiences, leaving them with a deeper understanding of a topic than facts and figures alone could convey.
- A Pioneer through ambiguity – can empower teams to be the ‘first to’ achieve goals, setting challenging ambitions then navigating towards them.
- Commercial but never mercenary – has a strong ethical compass which guides doing the right thing for users. Avoids cynical and manipulative even when these may be the most profitable - knows how to build a purposeful culture which avoids user engagement through ‘dark patterns´.
- A Transformation Driver – can drive significant change, enrolling skeptical teams to reconsider their position and try new things
