Master thesis - Circular Micromobility - Voi Technology
VOI Denmark ApS
Micro-mobility operators, like Voi, play a critical role in offering efficient and sustainable transportation solutions helping society in general and cities in particular achieve their sustainability goals. Voi has set an ambitious target to take leadership in this transition by offering the first fully circular micromobility solution.
In these thesis projects you will be mentored by our Head of Sustainability, Åsa Christiander. Students will explore real life opportunities to design a new, more sustainable product and circular system solution, including evaluating the business viability of the suggested changes.
YOUR MISSION
In this thesis project, we would like to engage a team of students to create a circular micromobility solution (scooter or e-bike) addressing four different topics;
- Design a concept for a re-use-based circular e-vehicle
- Re-use of parts with minimum effort and cost
- Maximising lifetime of product/service
- Design a concept for a recycled materials based e-vehicle
- maximise recycled content and recyclability without jeopardising the service (e.g., serviceability, safety)
- option; consider how to use changes in communication for example show that material is recycled
- Design/optimise a circular system including re-use approach, number of loops per component, site strategy and logistics to optimise lifetime and system efficiency. To realise the implementation of 1 and 2 (e.g., where and how should different parts be refurbished, how should transportation be solved etc)
- Build/optimise a business case for circular systems taking into account aspects such as effects on market share, lifetime, material cost , transportation costs and effects on carbon.
- Conceptual design of an updated product (scooter or bike) built for circularity
- Conceptual design of an updated product based on recycled input
- Draft of circular system solution
- Circular business case including carbon footprint impact
- Experience from coursework and projects in product design, sustainability/circularity, supply chain (e.g., Mechanical Engineer)
- Experience from system design/circularity/optimisation
- Experience from business case formulation (e.g., Industrial Economics)
