Analog Hardware Engineer
Weibel Scientific A/S
Do you want use your experience and skills within analog hardware engineering to be a part of designing the next generation of our advanced Doppler radars?
Then this is your chance to join Weibel in a position as an Analog Hardware Engineer in our Antenna group. We can offer an exciting opportunity where you get to use your technical skills in an innovative environment where our goal is to push the performance of radars to the limit. We have a full-scale production facility next to our developers – this is our key strength that allows us to maintain agility in exploring new solutions without compromising quality.
Due to increasing demands for our products, we are looking for an experienced colleague for a position as an Analog Engineer to strengthen our Antenna group. Our antennas are designed, tested and produced in-house at our headquarter in Allerød. The active antenna arrays contain both RF, analog, power and digital control electronics, giving you an opportunity to work closely together with colleagues who have a different field of expertise than yourself.
Design and verification of analog hardware
You will be part of the team that designs and verifies the electronics components going into our tracking radars. The group designs almost all electronic elements of the radar antennas including antenna elements, mixers, LNAs, HPAs, PSUs and digital circuits. We are also key players in our certification work, and we support our production team with module tests, system verification and debugging. You will work with system debugging and testing both internally and for certification, while also having design task on our roadmap projects.
Your main responsibility will be to design and verify the analog PCBs in the signal chain in support of our sensor roadmap as well as maintain the current generation analog signal chain hardware. Currently it has an instantaneous bandwidth > 10MHz – the next generation will be higher. More specifically your tasks will be to:
- Independently find and implement solutions on PCBs matching the requirements for the signal chain – with help from your colleagues
- Maintain and develop current and next-generation analog signal chains with focus on noise/spurious performance, filtering, dynamic range and phase stability across different environmental conditions
- Test and verify performance of the developed solutions – both on the board level, the module level and the full radar level
- Interface with RF, digital and mechanical engineers to find the best cross functional solutions as a whole
Other responsibilities and tasks will be:
- Take part in the development of our next generation radar platform architecture
- Support our production and customers with updated documentation
- Participate in assembly, test and evaluation of prototypes of designs as well as DFM reviews with our large in-house production team
About you
We are looking for an experience colleague and ideally you have +10 years of experience from a similar role. It is an advantage if you have experience with design of analog signal chains in support of high-speed AD converters. You are able to get up to speed quickly with the immediate design, debugging and compliance tasks while learning the design trade-offs relevant to Weibel radars. The job requires you to be detailed and structured in your work while maintaining an overview of the system and deadlines.
Your professional CV includes:
- A university degree with an electrical engineering focus
- Experience in design of analog electronics and analog signal conditioning from concept over schematics to layout and verification
- Preferably knowledge of designing electronics for harsh environments – from the arctic to the desert
- Experience with CAD/CAE tools e.g. Cadence OrCAD or Allegro
- Preferably experience with development with CE compliance testing in mind
- Good communication skills in English
Your new team
The Antenna group consists of more than 40 engineers with anything from a few years to 30+ years of experience; of these 17 are a part of the electronics team. The group is cross functional and consists of electronic/RF engineers, hardware engineers and mechanical engineers. We have created it in this way, because we believe that bringing people with different competencies together early in the design process will generate the best solutions.
