Your role and responsibilities
Are you passionate about safety applications and eager to tackle complex technical challenges? Join our team as the Senior Technical Specialist for Safety Applications at ABB, where you will be the go-to expert for intricate technical issues related to our safety products. You’ll be a key contributor in the Machine Safety Solutions Agile Team, part of the ELSP Industry and Control Agile Unit. This unit is at the forefront of developing innovative load control, monitoring, and safety solutions for industrial applications. As a main contributor to our agile team, you will focus on creating cutting-edge solutions for machine safety. The work model for the role is hybrid. This role is contributing to the Electrification Smart Power globally. You will be mainly accountable for: • Technical Expertise & Problem Solving: Serve as the primary reference for complex technical is-sues concerning safety applications and ABB’s safety products. Assess and analyze technical issue cases, design and execute various test scenarios, and run simulations to understand and resolve these challenges effectively. • Content Development & Knowledge Sharing: Create and develop technical materials such as white papers and training resources, to enhance understanding of safety applications and solu-tions. Ensure these materials are accessible and up-to-date in relevant portals and tools. • Presentations & Demonstrations: Prepare and deliver engaging technical presentations and demonstrations for internal teams and customers, addressing complex product and application issues with clarity and expertise. • Data Management & Accessibility: Ensure all relevant materials and data related to safety products and applications are readily available in the appropriate portals and tools, facilitating easy access and reference.
Qualifications for the role
- A degree in Electrical, Automation Engineering, or a comparable field.
- Familiarity with common machine safety applications and safety products.
- At least 5 years of experience in PLC programming, fieldbus communication, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of functional safety and related standards (IEC 61508), ideally with an external certification.
- : Fluency in English (C1 level); German or Swedish (B2 level) is advantageous but not mandatory.
