The Senior Climate Justice Policy Manager is part of the Policy, Evidence and Fundraising Team (KNOW) within AADK's (ActionAid Denmark) international department In the KNOW team, we manage global programmes, communicate impact and learning and support institutional fundraising. We analyse data, develop knowledge and evidence on key approaches, support policy influencing and lead the institutional fundraising strategy for international work. The team also leads two climate change and climate justice programmes.

Your tasks
The Climate Justice Policy Manager will work closely with the Climate Justice Programme Advisor, as well as colleagues in other teams working on climate justice, other partner countries, the Global Platforms, the Social Movement Center and the ActionAid Federation. Your tasks include, but it not limited to:

Policy management

  • Lead the implementation of the Global Programme on Climate Justice that gathers partners, experts and activists around shifting climate finance to front line communities and ensuring a just and green transition to renewable energy.
  • Develop policy positions and advocacy strategy & plans for the climate finance approach of the programme to inform and support national level interventions as well as international advocacy.
  • Engage in selected international fora in close cooperation with the AA Federation to hold governments and institutions to account for commitments to climate finance.
  • Provide thought leadership on international climate finance within AADK and the wider federation.
  • Support staff in the Global Programme with their policy work.
  • Collaborate with a Senior Programme Manager on budgeting and financial management and lead on annual reporting for the programme as well as support reporting from national partners.
  • Lead the development of the next phase of the Global Programme, including developing and managing impact external partnerships.
  • Lead or support capacity building on climate justice for AADK staff.
  • Lead AADK’s signature project on climate finance.

Fundraising

  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with potential partners and donors.
  • Support and where appropriate lead fundraising and communications efforts at AADK.
  • Representing the AADK externally to partners, advocacy targets, media and donors as needed.

Your profile
You have successfully managed complex, international projects and processes and hold minimum 5 years of experience within international policy and advocacy processes, preferably from the development sector. You have strong knowledge of the international financial system and climate finance for the global south in particular; you have task managed several staff under the same or multiple projects while developing and managing relationships with internal and external partners. You are able to lead the development of policy positions as well as the development and implementation of advocacy strategies. You are considered to be an effective communicator who can convey specific and in-depth thematic information to internal and external audiences, particularly when it comes to communication of policy and advocacy positions. You are generally highly experienced in policy and advocacy alliances and network building

We offer
A permanent contract with 37 working hours/week and approximately 3-4 weeks of travel per year; a comprehensive compensation package according to the standards of ActionAid International with an obligatory pension scheme; flexible working hours, so that a healthy balance between private- family- and work-life is possible. A position based in an ActionAid country, ultimately depending on AADK strategic priorities and the respective local conditions (such as work permit processes, local political tensions, national regulations etc.).
