As the Development Director in Japan, you will lead large-scale offshore wind projects from the development phase through to the final investment decision. This includes securing consents and permits, managing stakeholder relationships, and ensuring high-quality delivery within scope, timeline, and budget. You will play a critical role in advancing COP's mission to create a sustainable energy future.
Primary job duties include the following:
- Lead and manage the development team for assigned projects, including stakeholder and environmental impact assessment (EIA) teams.
- Oversee project development activities, such as permitting, grid connection, land rights, and business case support.
- Define and manage project budgets, EIAs, schedules, and risk mitigation strategies to ensure timely permit delivery.
- Support economic modeling for all project development phases.
- Prepare and present shareholder materials, reports, and project updates.
To succeed in this role, you:
The Development Director will report to both the Market CEO (market level) and the Project CEO (project level). To succeed in this role, you will have the following:
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field from an accredited institution.
- At least 10 years of experience in the renewable energy, offshore wind, or infrastructure sectors.
- Strong experience in developing large energy generation facilities, transmission infrastructure, or offshore projects.
- Proven leadership, organizational, networking, and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication abilities, with proficiency in presenting complex information clearly.
- Native Japanese and good command of English.
