Who we’re looking for
A key enabling technology for decarbonization is Power-to-X. At Topsoe the pivoting technology for our Power-to-X solutions is the Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cell based electrolyzer. We are now looking for a new colleague to join SOEC Performance development, where we are developing our electrolyzer solutions from a cell, stack and system performance perspective. We do this by utilization of our design and modelling capabilities but also by extensive testing at component, cell, stack and system level. We are looking for a Senior Development engineer who will contribute to this development from a process engineering perspective.
You be involved in several activities all focused on developing and optimizing our SOEC solutions considering safety, installation cost, efficiency and operability:
- Establishing and optimizing flowsheets and preliminary equipment specification for new process configurations
- Establishing new ways to heat integrate high temperature process streams
- Contributing to our SOEC demonstration unit in Frederikssund:
- Troubleshooting (both hardware and control system)
- Developing and supporting test runs.
- Supporting operation (optimization, revamp, ...)
• Presenting our SOEC demonstration units in Frederikssund to external visitors & customers
• Analyzing, interpreting and presenting the results generated on our demonstration electrolyzers.
As a member of our team, you will be part of a community of talented scientists and engineers working to push current boundaries of the SOEC technology. To succeed in that you will need to be proactive and to be able to collaborate with colleagues having different backgrounds.
Your primary working location will be at our facilities in Ravnholm, but weekly presence in Frederikssund in anticipated.
What you’ll bring
We are looking for someone with a mindset for problem solving and a can-do attitude, completed by a spirit of collaboration and teamwork. Here´s what our ideal candidate will bring:
- Safety mindset
- Demonstrated process engineering skills, such as flowsheeting and equipment sizing
- Experience with chemical process simulation software used to design chemical plants
- Good understanding / Experience of high temperature design and fluid dynamics is a plus
- Hands on experience from test units or chemical plants is an advantage
- PhD or master´s degree in chemical engineering, energy engineering, physics, or materials science/engineering
- Fluency in English (both spoken and written).
If you have cross disciplinary experience within electrical or mechanical engineering, it will be considered an advantage and so will experience with SOEC/SOFC or alternative electrolyzer technology.
Why join us
By joining our team, you will have the opportunity to become part of our decarbonization journey and contribute shaping the future of the Power-to-X industry. If you would like to work in an international team of friendly, supportive, and highly skilled and experienced colleagues, this is the place for you.
We are a diverse team of scientists and engineers with a focus on developing the SOEC technology at cell, stack and system level. We do this by operating SOEC test and demonstration units, utilizing a wide range of model tools and by using advanced characterization methods for post test analysis. Therefore we offer a working environment with a high degree of variation where you will able to influence your professional development towards various scientific disciplines and roles.
