The Royal Danish Consulate General in Hamburg is seeking a motivated and skilled Commercial Advisor and Junior Commercial Advisor to join our Trade team, focusing on energy with particular emphasis on biogas and district heating.
Location: Royal Danish General Consulate in Hamburg
Contract Type: Local contract based on the Staff Rules of the Mission (initially for 2 years, with the possibility of extension)

About the Roles:
The Royal Danish Consulate General in Hamburg is seeking a motivated and skilled Commercial Advisor and Junior Commercial Advisor to join our Trade team, focusing on energy with particular emphasis on biogas and district heating.
As Commercial Advisor your work will have emphasis on strategic advisory and business development,
As Junior Commercial Advisor you will primarily support administrative and operational activities critical to the success of the team’s initiatives.
Both positions offer an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of export promotion, public affairs, and energy sector innovation, contributing to Denmark's leadership in sustainable energy solutions.
You will play a key role in creating value for Danish companies by supporting their export activities in Germany. This involves strategic advisory, fostering partnerships, and sharing knowledge across key stakeholders.
Position 1: Commercial Advisor
Key Responsibilities
- Cultivate strategic partnerships within the biogas and district heating sectors.
- Serve as an intermediary between Danish companies and German stakeholders.
- Conduct in-depth monitoring of the district energy and biogas industries in Germany.
- Gather, analyze, and present market data to inform stakeholders in Denmark and Germany.
- Support Danish companies through value-driven export activities such as stakeholder meetings, technical workshops, and delegation trips.
- Coordinate event planning, including logistics and travel arrangements.
- Develop a communication platform and strategy for the sectors strategic business alliances to increase visibility in Denmark and Germany.
Your Profile
We are looking for a candidate with:
- At least 3 years of experience in export promotion, investment promotion, or business development, ideally in the energy and environment sector.
- Familiarity with the biogas or district heating industry is an advantage.
- Fluency in German and English is essential.
- Proficiency in Danish or another Scandinavian language is a strong asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel within Germany and Denmark (approximately 30-40% of working time).
Position 2: Junior Commercial Advisor
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the organization of stakeholder meetings, technical workshops, and delegation trips.
- Coordinate travel arrangements and event logistics.
- Maintain up-to-date records of clients, stakeholders, and activities in CRM systems.
- Prepare meeting notes, reports, and presentations.
- Support the execution of the communication strategy for Dänische Fernwärme and Biogas Alliance.
- Assist in creating content for newsletters, reports, and marketing materials.
- Conduct basic market research to support the Commercial Advisor and team activities.
- Coordinate communication with stakeholders, both in Denmark and Germany.
Your Profile:
What we are looking for:
- At least 1 year of experience in administrative support, coordination, or event management.
- Familiarity with the energy sector is an advantage but not required.
- Fluency in German and English is essential.
- Proficiency in Danish or another Scandinavian language is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
- A proactive and collaborative work style.
- Willingness to support occasional business travel and event participation.
