Background
Oxfam Denmark is part of the international confederation, Oxfam, that works to fight extreme inequality in the world. As a Student Assistant, you will contribute to this work in crisis-affected and developing countries, globally and in Denmark. As of January 2025, Oxfam Denmark will implement the Globalt Fokus-funded project “Taking stock of the Women, Peace and Security agenda at the 25th anniversary of UNSCR 1325 - knowledge-sharing and learning between Danish and global CSOs/NGOs” together with Kvinderådet/Women’s Council Denmark, Sex og Samfund/ The Danish Family Planning Association (DFPA), and Folkekirkens Nødhjælp/DanChurchAid (DCA). The purpose of the project is “To strengthen capacities of Danish and global CSOs/NGOs through knowledge-exchange and experience-sharing in order to identify and document best practices, lessons learned, and top tips on how to effectively work on the Women, Peace and Security agenda through policy and programming efforts in the current context for global crises and conflict, in light of the 25th anniversary of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325, the new Danish Women, Peace and Security National Action Plan and Denmark’s membership of the United Nations Security Council”.
Task examples
- Support management of the Globalt Fokus-funded WPS project – including project stakeholder coordination meetings, monitoring and reporting of project, provide overall logistic and admin support.
- Support planning and facilitating events, workshops and processes – both online and physical - including coordination with speakers, facilitator and research for content and speakers.
- Support initial design process of WPS digital platform.
- Analysis, mapping, and documentation related to women, peace, and security (WPS).
- Communication work, including newsletters, case stories, text for the website, information papers, and visual presentations.
Competences required
- You are currently in the last year of a university degree in Denmark in a relevant field
- You are interested in humanitarian and peacebuilding work with a special interest in Women, Peace and Security
- You are systematic and capable of working independently and as part of a team to reach a common goal
- You have an inclusive, empathetic, and optimistic personality with a high level of integrity.
- You possess good writing skills and communicate complex issues in a simple and understandable way – both orally and in writing
- You speak and write English fluently
- You like being part of a team of good colleagues and engage in social activities
Competences – nice to have
- Danish, French, Spanish, or Arabic language skills
- Experience in using MS Excel and creating/maintaining databases
- Experience in graphic design or web design
- Experience with project development and management

Conditions
We expect the Student Assistant job to be part-time (10 hours/week). We are flexible in relation to classes, exams, and student jobs, so division of those working hours during the week can be discussed and agreed. The duration of the assignment is approximately eight months with tentative expected start date 03 February 2025. You will work primarily at the Oxfam office in central Copenhagen, but with the possibility of working from home by agreement with your line manager. You will be paid hourly according to the HK collective agreement. Our canteen is primarily vegetarian/vegan.
