Who are we in Group Strategic Steering
Group Strategic Steering serves as the nerve center of our bank, interfacing daily with various teams to ensure that strategic plans are transformed into actionable outcomes. This department is crucial in steering the bank towards its long-term goals, working closely with all business units to maintain alignment with the bank’s overall objectives.
You will be part of a supportive and collaborative team of approximately 10 close colleagues. As a unit within a community in the larger group of many more skilled strategy professionals, our team is known for its central role in designing, orchestrating and facilitating strategic initiatives across the bank. The collaborative spirit and collective expertise of our team make it a cornerstone in the bank’s operational strategy.
We are looking for a Senior Strategist who will be part of defining and shaping the strategy of Danske Bank individually and in Group context and the execution of Forward ’28 (and following strategies). You will support the company’s Executive Leadership Team and senior management, to ensure the long-term competitiveness of the bank, by collaborating with and guiding the work of stakeholders across all Business Units, and functions of the bank.
What are the responsibilities in the role?
Prioritise and focus activities based on the bank’s best interest, and in line with the organisation’s needs and focus areas to contribute to the bank reaching its strategic goals. You will be driving part of the department’s portfolio of strategic and organisational development projects in relation to scoping, planning, delivery, and stakeholder management. Assume workstream lead responsibility in projects individually with minimal supervision. You need to stay abreast of industry trends and dynamics and synthesise competitive insight and deep understanding of the organisation into clear strategic options for the bank. Part of the role will be guiding and coaching project managers in relation to different approaches to strategy development, project delivery and management of stakeholders.
Tasks will also be to:
- Generate, refine, and drive ideas, structure and solve problems together with subject matter experts.
- Consistently communicates clearly and concisely verbally and in writing (in English language)
- Facilitate workshops, analyse data and structure information for senior management and in collaboration with strategy and finance teams
- Proactively challenge own thinking by seeking stakeholder feedback, and assuming different stakeholder perspectives to a given problem
- Mentor junior colleagues with regard to professional development.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with a interpersonal and communicational skillset enabling the position holder to build and nourish collaborative relationships, and handle opposition and resistance effectively, even among senior management. We expect you to have experience with stakeholder management and influencing, problem-solving/analytical capabilities. It is important for us that you live up to and serve as a role model in relation to the bank’s cultural commitments.
Furthermore, you possess:
- Relevant master’s degree or alternative extensive experience
- Functional skillset to manage strategic projects, learning and mental agility to quickly adapt to changing circumstances.
- Multi-year domain knowledge (banking or other), ideally from fields of strategy, transformation, corporate finance or program management, alternatively front office / business unit experience.
