Most companies run through gigantic spreadsheets twice a month to invoice their customers. This is boring and mistakes happen. Do you want to help solve billing once and for all?

We are a profitable startup, and we are expanding. You won't have to deal with any legacy code, no decisions made 10 years ago holding you back, just pure speed. We are looking for a Senior Product Engineer—you are not limited to coding. You are part of the entire process, from talking with customers (if you want) to designing the solution, understanding the foundational problem, and pushing a product out.

You will work closely with everyone in Proper and our customers. We build our products through a process inspired by experiments. First, we test ideas, and product market fit with prototypes, interviews, or other ways. Once we understand the job to be done and the market, we either move on to a prototyping stage with more software or proceed directly to writing code. This approach allows us to move fast, stay flexible, and confidently deliver high-quality products.

What we are looking for:

  • Passionate about designing products and solving real, painful problems for our customers.
  • Enjoy understanding customers' needs rather than following detailed specifications.
  • Enjoy working independently and driving things forward on your own.
  • Comfortable - or almost comfortable - working with the entire stack, both frontend and backend.
  • Experience working on multiple different products from your past.
  • Strong communication skills and fluent in English.
  • Located in the Copenhagen area.

Technologies we use:

  • Kotlin, Java, AWS (SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, Lambda, CDK)
  • TypeScript, React, Next.js, Tailwind
  • Event-driven architecture
  • Domain-driven Design concepts
  • MacOS

We don’t expect you to be an expert in all of these technologies, however, we want you to be up and running fast, so you should have worked professionally with either Java or Kotlin, are familiar with the AWS ecosystem and have solid experience with building React apps.
