Your team You will be part of the Systems Services Section of the Infrastructure and Operations Services Division in the Directorate General Information Systems. Our Division has approximately 60 staff providing IT services to the ECB, including offering new technologies and driving digitalisation. We are currently focusing on automating business processes, transitioning to a DevOps operating model and ensuring operational stability for all our services, either cloud-based or on-premises.
In your role as IT Specialist for Swift/ESMIG you will be part of a small team responsible for the maintenance, support and further development of the ECB’s Swift infrastructure and the Eurosystem Single Market Infrastructure Gateway (ESMIG). You will work closely with business counterparts in the Directorates General Market Infrastructure and Payments, Market Operations, Corporate Services and Internal Audit. These services are hosted on highly critical infrastructures and enable and support key parts of the ECB’s mandate, explaining the high visibility of this role.
The ECB is an inclusive employer and we strive to reflect the diversity of the population we serve. We encourage you to apply irrespective of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, race, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or other characteristics.
Your role As an IT Specialist for Swift/ESMIG you will:
- contribute to supporting and maintaining the availability, stability and security of Swift and ESMIG services, in close cooperation with their service coordinators;
- participate in managing the above-mentioned services, covering operational duties (including on-call duties);
- take the lead on coordinating and liaising with internal parties and external auditors during the completion of the annual Swift Customer Security Programme (CSP) and comparable ESMIG security assessments;
- contribute to the cloud migration of the Swift and ESMIG services, engaging and collaborating with your colleagues in the Directorate General Information Systems and stakeholders in other business areas, as well as, more broadly, with stakeholders across the ECB and, occasionally, the ESCB;
- contribute to the adoption of DevOps and migration to the cloud, exploring the migration of services primarily in a “software as a service” model.
For this role we are seeking a candidate who demonstrates the potential for growth, and we will support the selected candidate in their development of the required knowledge, skills or competencies.
The position offers you excellent opportunities to be at the forefront of the delivery of smart, scalable and efficient next-generation infrastructure services based on a high degree of integrity, automation and security, supporting a world-class, data-centric institution. You will be part of a multicultural team that strives for continuous innovation to make a positive impact on the lives of European citizens.
Qualifications, experience and skills Essential:
- a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in information technology, engineering or another relevant field (see How you can join us for details on degree equivalences);
- a minimum of two years’ experience either in Swift Alliance and financial messaging networks, as well as knowledge of ISO20022/CBPR+, or two years’ experience in the provision of business-specific IT services to end users in the areas of market infrastructure and payments and market operations;
- experience with Swift CSP or similar security assessments;
- experience in managing Linux-based server infrastructures in a virtualised environment, with at least a basic knowledge of IP networking and related security concepts;
- an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Desired:
- professional certification on Swift Alliance, financial messaging networks and ISO20022/CBPR+.
You engage collaboratively with others. You pursue team goals and learn willingly from other people’s diverse perspectives. You signal any need for change by explaining it and proposing alternative solutions. You analyse complex information effectively and can evaluate different views to arrive at solutions. You know and anticipate stakeholder needs.
You are motivated to be part of our team and to develop and use your skills and competencies to achieve the aims of this position.
Working modalities To enable the Section to maintain its business continuity capability, you will occasionally be expected to be on call, perform work during non-standard working hours and work at the ECB’s standby sites.
