The Department of Mathematical Sciences (MATH) at the Faculty of Science (SCIENCE), University of Copenhagen, is seeking a Scientific Project Coordinator for the project “Lifelong Education in Quantum Science”. The Scientific Project Coordinator is to assist in tasks related to the implementation of new educational initiatives within quantum information science. The full-time position begins on 1 February 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter, for a period of two years.

The Project
Lifelong Education in Quantum Science is an initiative in collaboration between the University of Copenhagen (UCPH) and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) to create educational courses in quantum science for high schools and universities. The vision is both to generate interest, educate, and provide continuing education in quantum science with the aim of ensuring that Danish society is prepared for the enormous opportunities, which the new quantum technology makes possible. The goal is to develop continuing education opportunities for both high school teachers and professionals working in sectors that may potentially use quantum technology.

The job will include the development of new education quantum programs for both high schools and universities in Denmark. In high schools, educational programs and courses will be developed to spark interest in the subject. At the university level, clear study tracks for B.Sc. students with an interest in quantum technology will be formed. The B.Sc. study tracks will prepare the students ideally for a M.Sc. study such as the joint KU/DTU Quantum Information Science master's program, which will also be strengthened.

Your Role
As the Scientific Project Coordinator, you will coordinate and drive the implementation of the new initiatives in close coordination with researchers, teachers and administrative staff from world leading research centers at UCPH (MATH, NBI, DIKU) and DTU (Physics and Compute).

You will be a member of the project group and be responsible for the development of the continuing education and coordination with a high school teacher consultant that will also be hired on the project.

Your tasks also include setting up an international guest lecturer program for university students and coordination of matchmaking events.

The position will require on-site coordination and availability at both UCPH (QMATH, NBI, DIKU) and at DTU (Physics and Compute).

Your Profile

  • You have a M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Math, Physics, Engineering or Computer Science with a specialization in quantum science.
  • You have experience with project coordination and communication between stakeholders.
  • Experience with teaching and design of teaching content at different academic levels.
  • You have a passion for quantum science and for bringing the latest research developments to the coming generations.
  • Can work independently and systematically.
  • Possess good communication skills in Danish and English.

Salary and Employment Conditions
The employment and salary is made in accordance with the Circular on the Collective Agreement concerning academics in the state sector concluded between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).

Employment will be as a Special Consultant. Negotiation for salary supplement is possible. The working time are 37 hours per week on average. The working hours are flexible.
