Job Summary:

The Community based Business Development and Support- Graduate Trainee will be responsible for community-level youth mobilization, providing support and guidance to young individuals in developing their entrepreneurial, vocational, and interpersonal skills for a dignified and fulfilling job/employment opportunities. Engage with the community, identify training needs, and create opportunities for young people to acquire relevant skills and enhance their employability. Play a critical role in supporting the implementation of the project activities by working closely with project participants on a day-to-day basis.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Engage with the local community and maintain strong relationships with refugee and host communities including youth, parents, community leaders, local artisans/ trainers and relevant stakeholders to identify skill gaps and training needs.
    • Support to organize community meetings and awareness sessions to promote the project's objectives and opportunities.
    • Participate in Conducting regular outreach activities, and closely work with Local Artisans, Community based training centers, Community Based Facilitators (CBFs) stakeholders to identify and mobilize potential participants for the RETI project.
    • Support to monitor skills training workshops, vocational training sessions, and life skills, YSLA activities, Entrepreneurship and business skills training in coordination with CBFs, local artisans and Community based training centers.
    • Provide mentorship and guidance to youth participants, offering support in setting goals, career planning, personal development and business plan development.
    • Support participants in market research and feasibility studies to help them develop business plans for their proposed ventures.
    • Support in identifying market opportunities and potential business partnerships for youth entrepreneurs.
    • Support in information sharing and ensure the youth got access to information on the available opportunities, benchmarking with other organizations on how they facilitated access to finance.
    • Participate to collect and maintain accurate records of beneficiary profiles, progress, and achievements through tracer studies.
    • Support in monitoring the progress and performance of the participants, providing feedback and assistance as needed to ensure their successful completion of the program.
    • Participate in project activities reporting, including success stories, document achievements, challenges, and lessons learned for project management and stakeholders.
    • Ensure Gender and safeguarding policies are being implemented by all the community-based training centers, Artisans and stakeholders.

    Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Agribusiness, Rural/Community Development, Education, Social work & Social Administration, or a related field (Must have graduated only within the last 2 years).
    • Basic Knowledge about different youth engagement strategies.
    • Basic Knowledge in VSLA methodology and group dynamic, financial literacy, Soft/life skills and business planning and development skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships with diverse stakeholders, including youth, community leaders, and employers.
    • Proficiency in English is required. Knowledge of local languages is an asset.
    • Familiarity with work in refugee settlements, and refugee host-communities is an added advantage.
    • Familiar with data management tool (Kobo collect).
    • Basic Computer skill is required (MS-Word, MS -Excel, PPP).
    • Ridding skills with a valid riding permit is an added advantage.
