Your role and responsibilities
If control system migrations, migration strategies, and developing solutions for migration energize you, this is the job you’ve been looking for – especially if you excel in managing complex control system projects spanning several years while demonstrating leadership both in the office and onsite in Denmark. Your primary focus will be leveraging your control system expertise to drive our Sattline-to-800xA migration projects. You will oversee overall progress, ensuring your team stays on track while managing finances and monitoring project advancement. This includes tasks such as early-stage strategy development, customer dialogue, site surveys, technical solutions design, migration tools development, validation strategies, lab testing, and the final migration of the control system. In this role, you will ensure timely, high-quality deliveries that meet customer expectations and align with agreed specifications. You will achieve this by providing direction and motivating your teams, typically comprising 4–20 ABB Project Engineers from our global organization. The vast majority of our projects are located in Kalundborg, Denmark. You have the flexibility to choose between being based in our Kalundborg, Ballerup, or Middelfart office. However, please note that you’ll need to spend the majority of your time working with your teams of engineers either onsite or at the relevant office. Your responsibilities: • Serve as the primary interface with the customer, ensuring the collection of necessary information to initiate new projects. • Develop migration strategies in collaboration with customers and lead them through execution. • Plan and coordinate control system site surveys. • Create and manage project plans, monitor progress, and coordinate activities within the project team. • Identify and secure approvals for changes in project scope, budget, or schedule. • Prepare and deliver monthly updates covering both financial and project deliverables. • Manage contracts. • Support sales with technical solutions, cost calculations, and risk assessments.
Qualifications for the role
- A degree in engineering (electrical/automation) or equivalent work experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in automation, particularly in commissioning large control systems. Knowledge of ABB 800xA and Sattline is a plus.
- A minimum of 3 years of project management experience with a desire for further development and education – we are ready to invest in you.
- Motivation to work in a regulated industry with high documentation standards.
- Interest in control system technology.
- A commercial mindset – you understand overall project economics and enjoy the ongoing negotiation aspects of the role.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate and lead a team of engineers, including delegating tasks effectively.
