We aim to use this information to inform and guide new prevention strategies to reduce skin cancer incidence rates. Current projects include measurement of DNA repair products in urine with LC-MS, non-invasive measurements of skin cancer biomarkers in preclinical models, and describing the individual physiological effects of sunlight components.
You will work in an interdisciplinary field with the primary goal of advancing the understanding of DNA repair products as a biomarker for skin cancer risk. Key objectives include coordinating and obtaining approval for preclinical and clinical studies, method modification and optimization, data analysis of both cell line, animal, and human samples, fieldwork. Additionally, you will support in the development of new ultraviolet radiation sources and evaluation of their effects on the skin in preclinical and clinical models.
You will present the scientific findings at conferences and in peer-reviewed publications. Furthermore, you will collaborate with other members of the research team and external stakeholders to explore new research questions. You will provide guidance to graduate students and other junior researchers on their projects and report directly to Associate Professor Catharina Lerche.
