Research Scientist, Assay & Screening
Novozymes A/S - Novonesis
Are you ready for a new beginning?
We need your talent, knowledge and dedication to better our world with biology.
Our purpose points the way
In Novonesis, we know that solutions rooted in biology can help solve humanity’s biggest challenges. Since we began more than a century ago, this has been our guide. It’s how we've gotten so far. And it’s how we'll impact the future. Now, more than ever, the world needs change. And with biosolutions, the possibilities for transformation are endless.
We’re here to better our world with biology.
In this role you’ll make an impact by:
You will represent the Assay & Screening department in an interdisciplinary team to address specific needs across multiple industries. More specifically, you will, as part of the team focus on understanding different application challenges and in collaboration with our application-oriented colleagues design a screening and assay strategy to deliver relevant diversity for further testing in small scale application assays. Practically, you will develop suitable assays and set up automated screening to accommodate evaluation of small volume non-purified enzyme and protein samples. This role therefore requires close collaboration, keeping an open mind, and the ability to adapt to changing needs in the project and beyond.
To succeed you must have:
- A PhD degree in biotechnology, biochemistry or related field, or other equivalent research experience.
- Solid enzyme-substrate understanding and experience with assay development.
- Experience with translating an application challenge into a medium to high-throughput screening assay.
- Ability to drive implementation of new assays on robotic liquid handling workstations and ambition to develop further in this area.
- Flair for bioinformatics, data analysis, statistics and programming (e.g. Python, Jupyter notebooks, SAS JMP).
- Strong communication skills, an open-minded positive attitude, and a desire to achieve results together with others.
Additionally, you must be fluent in English as you will work closely with colleagues of many nationalities.
It’s an advantage if you have:
- Good understanding of molecular biology, cloning and protein engineering.
- Experience with project leadership/management and wish to develop it further.
