Your role and responsibilities
The primary objective of this thesis is to develop and propose strategies to improve quality and risk management practices in 3D printing. This includes identifying current challenges, evaluating existing methodologies, and suggesting innovative solutions to enhance the reliability and efficiency of 3D printing processes. Details: • Period: March-May • Number of credits: 15ECTS • Number of students for this thesis work: 2 • Location: partly on-site In our production, we use 3D printing to manufacture tools and fixtures, which has led to increased flexibility and reduced lead times. To ensure that our 3D printed components consistently meet the high-quality standards required by our production, we aim to explore the current challenges in quality and risk management. This includes identifying potential sources of error, material variations, and process instabilities that can affect the performance and reliability of the final product. The purpose of this thesis is to: 1. Explore the current challenges in quality and risk management in our 3D printing processes. 2. Develop a set of best practices and guidelines for improving quality control in our daily work. The work will include conducting on-site tests, where you will have access to a 3D printer.
Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, product development or similar.
- CAD knowledge. SolidWorks experience is beneficial.
- Knowledge of quality control and risk management methods.
- You are self-driven, structured and analytical.
- Beneficial: Experience with 3D printing and additive manufacturing techniques; Experience of industrial manufacturing
