This is done in close collaboration with the European System of Central Banks (ESCB), Eurostat (the European Commission’s statistical office), the banking industry, national competent authorities and international bodies. In your role as Data Science Analyst, you will be part of the Statistical Publications and Visualisation team in the Statistical Applications Section. The team is made up of four members of staff responsible for maintaining, developing and improving statistical publications and data visualisations published on the ECB website, as well as the related data loading processes. • engage and collaborate with different stakeholders within the ECB as well as with the ESCB.

For this role we are seeking candidates who demonstrate the potential for growth, and we will support the selected candidate(s) in their development of the required skills.

The position offers you excellent opportunities to contribute to the smooth running of statistical publications related processes, development of visualisation tools and implementation of the ECB’s new data dissemination strategy. You will be part of a multicultural team that strives for continuous innovation to make a positive impact on the lives of European citizens.

  • experience working with statistical databases and related processes such as loading, processing and disseminating data using standardised and modern information technologies;
  • sound knowledge of modern statistical programming tools and practices, using programming languages such as R/RShiny, SQL, Python, Fame, etc.;
  • experience developing interactive publications, dashboards, interactive charts, reports and other visualisations using tools such as R/RShiny, Tableau, Fame, etc.;
  • an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Desired:

  • basic knowledge of the statistics produced and disseminated by the ECB, such as monetary and financial statistics, macroeconomic statistics or supervisory data;
  • good drafting and presentation skills and the ability to present complex issues in a concise and clear manner to non-specialist audiences, both orally and in writing.

You engage collaboratively with others. You pursue team goals and learn willingly from other people’s diverse perspectives. You signal any need for change by explaining it and proposing alternative solutions. You analyse complex information effectively and can evaluate different views to arrive at solutions. You know and anticipate stakeholder needs.

You are motivated to be part of our team and to develop and use your skills and competencies to achieve the aims of this position.
