Booking & Payment Lead Developer & People Manager

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of a fast-growing, complex Booking & Payment platform (with almost 2 million registered users), ensuring high-quality and scalable solutions (start as co-lead and transition into full-time lead).
  • Serve as both a hands-on senior engineer and a technical mentor, guiding a team of five developers through architectural and coding decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with Product owner, QA, UI/UX, to align technical deliverables with product goals, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Drive best practices for coding, testing, and deployment, fostering an environment that values clean code, technical excellence, and innovation.
  • Manage and develop the team by setting clear goals, providing feedback, and supporting their growth and career development.

Requirements
The ideal candidate

  • At least 8 years of professional software development experience, with proven expertise in leading engineering teams and delivering technical projects.
  • People management skills and general interest in developing people
  • Commercial, demonstratable experience with server side NodeJS and client side React and experience delivering projects using this stack.
  • Demonstrated ability to write high-quality, maintainable code in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Java, C#, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript).
  • Strong understanding of architectural principles, microservices, APIs, and integration with payment gateways or booking systems.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring skills, enabling effective collaboration across cross-functional teams and disciplines.

Preferably:

  • Experience using lower-level payment platforms for e-commerce and in-person payments. Understanding the flow of payments functions, roles of schemes, acquirers, and gateways.
  • Experience with different cloud service providers like AWS and Azure and knowledge of architecting applications on these providers.
  • Experience with embedded, IOT devices, or experience integrating with such devices.
  • Experience with mobile app development, either using hybrid frameworks or development on specific platforms.
