JOB SUMMARY
The IT Application Release and Test Manager is responsible for overseeing the release and testing processes for IT applications. Starting with ERP and then expanding to other applications in a structured process. This role ensures that applications are thoroughly tested, meet quality standards, and are released in a controlled and efficient manner. The manager will lead the team of release and test specialists, and will work closely with analysts, developers, QA, IT Compliance, and operations teams to coordinate and manage the release lifecycle, including scheduling, coordinating, and managing releases across the enterprise for multiple applications. This includes the larger Global IT organization above Biologics with HQ in Japan.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Release Management:

  • Plan, manage, and coordinate all release activities.
  • Work with technical application teams to ensure that release processes are followed.
  • Ensure that releases are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Communicate release details and schedules to the business as required.
  • Manage risks and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule, and quality.

Test Management:

  • Develop and implement test (manual and automatic) strategies, plans, and processes.
  • Coordinate and manage all testing activities, including unit, integration, system, and user acceptance testing.
  • Ensure that testing is conducted in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Work with QA teams to ensure that testing standards and practices are followed.
  • Track and report on testing progress and results.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with various functions in IT, QA, business teams, and operations teams to ensure smooth and efficient release processes.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on release and testing activities.
  • Facilitate release readiness reviews, milestone reviews, and business go/no-go reviews.
  • Managing vendor engagement for impact assessments, release management and issue solving.

Process Improvement:

  • Continuously improve release and testing processes to increase efficiency and quality.
  • Implement and manage release and test automation tools and processes.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging technologies.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain documentation related to release and testing processes.
  • Prepare and present release and testing reports to management.
  • Ensure that all release and testing activities are properly documented and tracked.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in release and test management, preferably in a large enterprise environment.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
  • Experience with release and test automation tools.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) or agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum Master).
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools.
  • Experience within pharma and validation management.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes
