Your role in our team
As our new Advanced Electrical Engineer, you will become part of our Solution Engineering Group in the Space Electronics Division and help develop advanced power conversion circuits for our different products. You will be working with fascinating products used in exciting and barrier-breaking missions in an extreme environment in a team that focuses on the development of novel power electronics in our space products.
You will be responsible for developing power electronics, DC/DC converters and surrounding circuitry, building prototypes, and conducting bring-up tests. Moreover, you will participate in customer meetings as a technical specialist as well as interact with relevant internal stakeholders.
Terma Space Systems is a pioneer in the Danish space industry and has been developing advanced space hardware solutions for more than 50 years. We provide mission critical hardware products for both scientific and commercial satellites to the high-quality standards. We are in Lystrup and Søborg, Denmark, where 55 employees work with the development and testing of space electronics in a very collaborative and informal environment. The team includes technicians, engineers and physicists in the full range from newly graduated to senior employees.
How you will make a meaningful contribution
Your key responsibilities include:
- Help define and develop the power systems architecture
- Schematics capture
- Printed circuit board (PCB) layout
- Component selection and evaluation
- Simulation and circuit model creation
- Building and testing prototypes
- Writing technical documentation
- Reviewing designs and providing feedback
- Improving and strengthening the design approaches
- Being a technical expert towards customers
Bring your world class expertise into play
You are fluent in English both in writing and verbal at a professional level. Danish is an advantage but not a requirement.
- You have an academic background e.g. a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or a PhD in power electronics, analog electronics, or a similar field of study
- You have extensive and proven experience in designing, testing, and documenting power electronics
- You have experience working according to procedures, with technical documentation and customer interaction
- Your technical experience includes:
- Wide knowledge of fundamental circuits, especially power electronics in the voltage range up to 120V
- Deep knowledge of electronic components (R-L-C, BJTs, MOSFETs, etc.)
- Thorough understanding of circuit engineering with ability to read circuit diagrams and understand complex circuits
- Talent for creating new circuits using elementary parts
- Power electronics development, testing and debugging
- Electrical schematics capture, development and review
- Electrical modeling of switching components, magnetics etc.
- PCB-layout and verification
- Thermal modeling and verification of designs
- Electro-Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) requirements and testing
- Magnetics design
- You have experience with some of the preferred tools:
- OrCAD Suite including PCB Editor, PSpice, OrCAD capture
- Microsoft Office suite
- Experience with one or more of the following is preferred but not a requirement:
- Experience with space / High Reliability production
- Any experience with other modeling tools such as Simulink, Comsol etc.
