Principal Research Engineer – Troubleshooting in Hydraulics and Injection
Everllence
Experienced Expert in Root Cause Analysis and In-Service Technical Resolution
Are you driven by the challenge of solving complex engineering problems and inspired by the opportunity to contribute to a more sustainable future? At Everllence, we are proud to be at the forefront of maritime innovation, designing advanced two-stroke propulsion systems for the world’s largest ocean-going vessels. Our technologies play a pivotal role in the decarbonization of global shipping, enabling the transition to carbon-neutral fuels such as methanol and ammonia.
Our engines rely on high-performance hydraulic systems for fuel injection and valve actuation. As we continue to evolve our engine designs, we also develop new hydraulic and injection components to meet the demands of next-generation propulsion systems.
If you thrive in a dynamic, solution-oriented environment and share our commitment to sustainable innovation, the position of Principal Research Engineer within our Hydraulics and Injection Development team in Copenhagen may be the ideal next step in your career.
Your Impact and Responsibilities
In this role, you will serve as a key technical authority within R&D, leading efforts to resolve in-service challenges related to hydraulic and fuel injection systems. Your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as the primary point of contact within R&D for field-reported issues, particularly those arising from vessels operating Everllence two-stroke engines under warranty.
- Conducting thorough root cause analyses and driving the resolution of complex technical problems.
- Estimation of potential warranty costs on given service problems and reporting towards the financial departments on warranty claim status
- Leading smaller troubleshooting initiatives and initiating larger-scale rectification projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Engaging with a broad network of stakeholders - including engineering teams, suppliers, procurement, and engine builders - to ensure timely and effective implementation of solutions.
- Facilitating knowledge transfer by sharing insights and lessons learned, thereby strengthening future development efforts and enhancing system reliability.
Your Background and Expertise
We envision that you bring:
- A degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering, complemented by at least 10 years of professional experience in marine engine technology or powerful and fast hydraulic systems.
- Proven experience in leading technical projects within the maritime sector; exposure to R&D environments is a strong advantage.
- Experience in conducting failure mode analysis and professional reporting of in-service problems.
- International collaboration experience, ideally involving partners in China, South Korea, and/or Japan.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust-based relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
