Academic Assistant – DIS Copenhagen

DIS Copenhagen is currently hiring an academic assistant with primary affiliation to the Science & Health department. There will also be tasks associated with another academic department as well as the central Academic Administration team.

The position is a full-time 15-month internship and part of the DIS post-graduate internship program.

The position will begin June 1, 2026, and end August 31, 2027.

Main tasks and responsibilities
This is a challenging and rewarding internship, where no two days will look the same. We expect you to be adaptable, curious, and able to thrive while juggling many tasks at the same time, working independently and as part of a team. You will have a high level of responsibility, and your tasks will develop as you expand your competencies.

Science & Health (S&H) related tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Daily administration of the S&H programs including managing the department’s central inbox, arranging logistics for staff and faculty events (e.g. department meetings, faculty socials and dinners), editing and cross-checking syllabi, bringing a student perspective to teaching demonstrations and the S&H curriculum development process
  • Provide logistical support for S&H faculty (e.g. preparing educational materials and restocking medical supplies, taking students to field studies)
  • Participate in various student facing workshops, orientations, and fields studies at DIS and other locations within the greater Copenhagen area, sometimes during the evening hours
  • Communicate with S&H students regarding classes, study tours, events, deadlines, etc.
  • Co-lead and provide logistical support on S&H study tours in cooperation with faculty to facilitate a positive educational and social tour for the students

Academic Administration (DIS-wide) tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Daily administration tasks including managing the central inbox, assisting with website updates, taking shifts at the Faculty Help Desk
  • Assist in preparing and executing DIS-wide student events, workshops, and seminars, such as the DIS Festival, sometimes during the evening hours
  • Assist with faculty development seminars and work with the DIS faculty and staff in the Learning Lab
  • Assist the DIS Library in peak periods such as book pick-up and book return
  • Support the coordination between the Academic Administration team, the Student Hub, Library Services, and the Study Tours Department

Relevant skills and knowledge
All applicants are required to have completed a semester or summer course at DIS Copenhagen or Stockholm, and hold a Bachelor’s degree by the start of the internship.

Ideally (but not required), you were enrolled in the Medical Practice and Policy program at DIS. Furthermore, you are:

  • Highly organized with keen attention to detail, motivated to produce high-quality work
  • Appreciative of recurring administrative tasks, with a self-motivated and dedicated work ethic
  • Able to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines at once
  • Service-minded and adaptable to change in a dynamic and collaborative environment
  • Able to work and troubleshoot independently, while also being comfortable asking for clarification when needed
  • Able to reflect upon and learn from mistakes that occur along the way
  • Well-versed in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word

About the Science & Health (S&H) Department
The Science & Health department is a program specific department at DIS. It is a team of about 10 staff and full-time faculty. There are four programs within the department: Medical Practice and Policy, Public Health, Neuroscience, and Biomedicine. There are about 20 core course sections across these programs in Copenhagen and Stockholm through the fall and spring semesters with a wide array of courses over the summer.

About the Academic Administration team
The Academic Administration consists of about 15 people from across the program specific departments. This team works to make each semester run as smoothly as possible by streamlining DIS-wide processes in collaboration with faculty and other academic staff.
