Senior Site Reliability Engineer - Umbraco Cloud

About the Role
Umbraco Cloud is a PaaS platform hosting thousands of Umbraco CMS / .NET applications, powering many enterprise websites worldwide. We're looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer with a developer background who has grown into operations.

You'll focus on operational excellence, building and maintaining the infrastructure, compliance, and reliability practices that keep our platform running. You'll own features throughout their entire lifecycle, from design and implementation through to deployment and ongoing operations. In this role, you will report directly to the Head of the SRE Team.

The Team
The Site Reliability team consists of three experienced engineers & one team lead working across Vietnam and EU time zones (Denmark & Greece). We offer both fully remote and hybrid work (approximately 2 days in the office for those nearby). We're developers who've become specialists in Azure, Cloudflare, .NET development, IaC using Terraform, and CI/CD in Azure DevOps. We also have strong frontend capacity, operating as a fully-fledged product team while maintaining our SRE focus. Our team ensures the reliability and performance of Umbraco Cloud, supporting thousands of customer websites. We maintain a collaborative culture with annual in-person meetups, and our experience ranges from 4 to 15 years in the field.

What You'll Do
Your first 6 months will include
Your initial focus will be on strengthening our compliance and disaster recovery posture:

• Document and implement compliance practices across the deployed infrastructure
• Design and deploy Azure Policy-based governance controls
• Build out disaster recovery procedures and automation

Ongoing Operational Areas
Beyond your initial focus, you'll work across various operational domains, including FinOps, DataOps, incident management, observability, backup management, SLA monitoring, email delivery infrastructure, and Azure Entra ID administration.

What We're Looking For
The most important qualification is your personality: Who you are, your values and attitudes, and your eagerness to learn. We are looking for an engaging and positive team player with a take-charge attitude and commitment to getting things done. Besides that;

You likely have:

• A developer background who has transitioned into operations/infrastructure
• Experience with Azure & Cloudflare Cloud platforms
• Hands-on infrastructure as code experience (Terraform preferred)
• Scripting skills (PowerShell or Bash)
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Experience with disaster recovery or business continuity planning

Bonus points for:

• Compliance or governance automation experience (Azure Policy, regulatory frameworks)
• .NET development experience
• SQL database knowledge
• Kubernetes administration
• Python programming
• CDN or edge network experience
• Incident management and on-call experience
• Observability tools (New Relic, Application Insights)

Practicalities
Working hours: Full-time 37 hours a week
Working type: Remote / Hybrid
Preferred start date: March 2026. Interviews will start in Jan/Feb 2026
Place of work: Fully remote or hybrid. For hybrid roles, our office is located at: Umbraco HQ, Buchwaldsgade 35, 2nd floor, 5000 Odense, Denmark. In a hybrid arrangement, we’d like for you to visit on pre-agreed 2 days per week in the office.
