Senior Data Engineer
Schibsted Danmark
Job Description
At Schibsted, we are reimagining how data can enhance and personalize digital experiences. Our mission is to build a best-in-class data ecosystem that empowers product teams, strengthens user insights, and enables millions of people to connect with content that matters to them.
We are now hiring a Senior Data Engineer to join our User Data team. In this role, you'll help lay the foundation for how we understand, engage, and support users across our products. You'll work at the heart of data systems that drive personalized recommendations, consented login flows, segmentation, experimentation, and more.
Based in Oslo, you will join a collaborative, impact-driven environment where data plays a critical role in shaping the future of user journeys across the Nordics. You’ll be working closely with analysts, scientists, engineers, and product managers to ensure our data infrastructure is scalable, privacy-conscious, and optimized for impact.
What will you do in this role?
In this role you’ll build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, integrating diverse structured and unstructured data into consistent, high-quality systems like data lakes or warehouses. Your work will enable personalization, editorial insights, A/B testing, and audience engagement. You’ll ensure trustworthy data across products by implementing and maintaining tracking and event pipelines. You’ll collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and product teams to deliver solutions aligned with business goals, and support exploratory tasks to make data accessible through tools like Tableau, Amplitude, Kilkaya, and Streamlit. You’ll also lead complex data architecture efforts, guide team standards, and mentor others.
Our tech stack:
- Data & MLOps platform: AWS, Snowflake, Databricks
- Transformation and orchestration: dbt, Airflow, Flyte
- Containerization: Kubernetes, Docker
- Programming and scripting: Python, SQL
- Exploration and delivery: Tableau, Superset, Amplitude, Kilkaya
Who you are:
You are independent, structured, and driven by impact. With a collaborative mindset, you thrive at the intersection of tech, product, business, and editorial, bringing people and ideas together. Curiosity and a strong business sense help you spot opportunities where data can create real value, and you’re confident navigating complexity with clarity and transparency.
In terms of experience, you likely have around five years in professional software or data engineering. Proficiency in Python is key, alongside a solid understanding of SQL and data modeling in analytical environments.
You’ve worked hands-on with modern data pipelines and tools, and you're familiar with MLOps frameworks (e.g. dbt, Airflow, or Flyte). Experience with cloud infrastructure and IaC tools such as Terraform is part of your toolkit.
A good grasp of agile workflows and software engineering best practices, including version control and CI/CD, will support your success in the role. If you’ve worked with event data, editorial tools, or media analytics, that’s a welcome bonus, but not a requirement.
Why we enjoy working here:
At Schibsted, we value openness, curiosity, and collaboration. You’ll be part of a diverse, inclusive workplace that encourages bold thinking and continuous learning. Our work directly supports public interest journalism and we take that responsibility seriously.
Whether you’re enabling better content decisions, driving user personalization, or shaping experimentation at scale, your contributions will help shape the future of digital media in the Nordics.
You will be joining a collaborative, impact-driven team that works across disciplines like technology, product, and editorial. We believe in structured yet flexible ways of working, balancing clear ownership with strong teamwork. Curiosity, openness, and a drive to create value through data are at the heart of how we operate. We support each other, celebrate continuous learning, and are passionate about turning complex challenges into meaningful solutions for our users and brands. We work in a flat, open environment where ideas are valued over titles, and you’ll be surrounded by skilled, supportive colleagues who enjoy sharing knowledge and learning together.
