Junior Developer (student) - Data & Analytics

Novo Holdings

Description
Are you the kind of person who can’t stop asking “how does this actually work?” and loves turning ideas into working code? Then you might be our new Junior Developer in our Data & Analytics team.

We’re offering an opportunity to solve real, tangible problems for real users, but in a safe environment where you are allowed to experiment, learn, and make mistakes.

The Team
Our Data & Analytics team is combined of Data, Platform, AI, and Software Engineers as well as front-end developers. We are responsible for building Novo Holdings’ entire data landscape and tailored software and AI products to provide our organisation with a differentiated view across sourcing, due diligence, and portfolio management - as well as the single, trusted entry point to all of Novo Holdings’ digital capabilities.

We own our own solutions end-to-end, all the way from user engagement, understanding the challenges, through to design and implementation, as well as monitoring and continuous improvements in production. Our tech stack is the Azure Cloud ecosystem, Databricks, dbt, and Terraform for IaC. Our primary coding language is Python and we use Nuxt.js and Tailwind for the frontend development.

The Job
As a Junior Developer in the Data & Analytics team, you will undertake challenging and varying tasks in relation to developing Novo Holdings’ strategic platform that aim to transform how our investment teams make decisions. Either as an individual contributor or by working alongside our senior developers.

The position will challenge your professional, academic, and intellectual capacity but we’ll ensure that you are having fun while doing so.

You’ll influence your own tasks, so they connect meaningfully to your studies. To the extent it is possible, we’ll continuously shape a backlog that supports your learning goals. There is the option to contribute to either our Data Engineering or AI & Software Engineering tracks or explore both over time. Common for both is that you’ll work on real production systems, not toy projects.

Examples of tasks include:

Data Engineering track:

  • Build and maintain data pipelines (e.g. ingesting data from APIs, files or databases into our data platform)
  • Modelling data into clear, well-documented datasets for analytics and tools
  • Improve data quality, lineage, and monitoring to ensure trust in our platform
  • Contribute to the development of the semantic layer, connecting data products to business logic

AI & Software Engineering track:

  • Implement backend services and APIs that power internal applications and tools
  • Prototype and integrate AI/ML features
  • Contribute to code quality, testing, and documentation, making it easier for others to build on your work

We do not expect extensive experience with the tools we use, instead - we believe that to succeed in the role it is more important to have demonstrated problem-solving skills, a curious min, and are motivated to learn.

The workload will be approximately 15-20 hours a week with flexibility in relation to your studies.

Academic & Professional Qualifications
We are ideally looking for a candidate who:

  • Is on the 2nd or 3rd year of a bachelor’s focusing on Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Has achieved excellent academic results
  • Enjoy solving real-world problems, not just passing assignments
  • Communicate clearly in English and like working in a team

Personal Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate who is:

  • Analytically strong with an ability to see the bigger picture while maintaining attention to detail
  • Capable of working in a structured and independent manner
  • A team player who thrives in a collaborative and international work environment
  • Are curios, proactive, and open to feedback

Contact
We are looking to fill the position as soon as possible and will conduct interviews on an ongoing basis. We encourage you to send your CV and application, grade transcripts, and other relevant documents (e.g. portfolio) as soon as possible or no later than the 4 January 2026.

For further specific questions, please contact Mark van der Bourgh Lange, Head of Data & Analytics at [email protected].
