Student Assistant to the Leadership Secretariat

Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke

Student Assistant to the Leadership Secretariat, ActionAid Denmark/Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke (AADK)
AADK is seeking an enthusiastic and self-driven Leadership Secretariat Assistant to play a key role in ensuring high standards, consistency, and quality in cross-organizational results reports, and to promote cooperation across the organization to secure knowledge sharing related to program monitoring, evaluation, and learning.

ActionAid Denmark (AADK) is part of ActionAid International, a global network working with over 25 million people to drive political and social change in 45 countries. Based in Denmark, AADK organizes strong communities to promote sustainable development and fair distribution of global resources. Founded in 1944, AADK has decades of experience in community organizing, starting with post-WWII reconstruction and continuing through local and international development initiatives.

As our new Leadership Secretariat Assistant, your areas of work will be focused on tasks related to documentation of AADK’s work both nationally and internationally. You will e.g. be responsible for two cross-organizational reports in cooperation with other staff from different teams in the organization, and for the monthly media newsletter to the staff, Board and Council, as well as news updates on AADK’s intranet. It is thus important that you have advanced writing skills and advanced skills in layout/graphic programs, and further that you have an analytical mindset when working with data from AADK’s programs; meaning that you have proficiency in translating complex datasets into visually compelling and easy-to-understand graphics, and a natural ability for storytelling through data – resulting in reports for internal use to the Board and Council, and to some extend for external use for donor reporting.

You will be reporting to the Director of Finance & Administration, but you will become a part of the Leadership Secretariat that supports the Leadership Team incl. the Secretary General, the Board and the Council in results reporting, policy development, and secretarial and administrative duties. Thus, you will be collaborating closely with the Leadership & Governance Coordinator

Tasks will include:

  • Translating of and storytelling from datasets into two annual reports
  • Graphic setup and writing monthly media newsletters
  • Assisting in the making of ESG reports
  • Continuous updating of news on AADK’s intranet
  • Assist in data verification and analysis
  • Assist in tracking outputs and outcomes
  • Carry out other duties in the Leadership Secretariat and responsibilities as assigned by your line manager, e.g. helping out with meeting practicalities, writing tasks, assisting in bigger events such as conferences, Council meetings etc.

We expect that:

  • You are pursuing an advanced degree in a relevant field
  • You have interest in and knowledge of monitoring and evaluation as well as in development issues & NGO work
  • You have knowledge of organizational work
  • You have the ability to write a variety of texts, from technical documentation to contextual storytelling
  • You work independently, take initiative, and demonstrate a proactive mindset.
  • You are fluent in spoken and written English

We appreciate (but do not require) if:

  • You have experience with organizational work
  • You have 2 years of your Master’s degree left
  • You have experience with the Microsoft 365 Package (i.e. Excel, Word, SharePoint)

We offer:

  • Flexible working hours to achieve a healthy balance between private time and your study requirements
  • A mandatory pension scheme
  • A broad international circle of highly committed colleagues in a young, informal, and dynamic working environment
  • Unique learning opportunities: Gain invaluable insights into the workings of a leadership secretariat and high-level decision-making processes, providing an exceptional learning experience for career development
  • Mentorship and guidance: Receive guidance and mentorship from the senior professionals, fostering personal and professional growth
  • Hands-on experience: Take on significant responsibilities, including the tasks above, which will contribute to the development of critical skills and enhance your understanding of organizational dynamics

The weekly working hours are approximately 15 hours, and the expected start date is January 19th, 2025.
